Art Department announce the release of “Cruel Intentions feat. Seth Troxler”, the first single from the highly anticipated sophomore studio album, “Natural Selection”.  The track will premiere on Pete Tong’s legendary BBC Radio 1 show on 17th October, before receiving an official release through No.19 Music on the 10^th November.

“Cruel Intentions” is a brooding whirlwind of hypnotic beats, layered synths and off-centre vocals courtesy of Kenny Glasgow. True to form, the track brims with Art Department’s signature impeccable arrangement; simplistic perfection, distorted through a murderous bass line and raw textures, topped with hauntingly eerie spoken word verses by long-standing friend and collaborator, Seth Troxler.

Stepping up for the first remix is revered house master and Ibadan Records boss Jerome Sydenham. His ‘Deep Space Dub’ reinterpretation is just that - it relies on classic sounding drums, seeing Jerome layer space-age melodies whilst permeating the track with a kinetic sense of intergalactic energy. One for the late night hours, it’s a sumptuous affair from start to finish.

Completing this most discerning package is Fred P, boss of the Soul People label and a true master of deep house, bringing two mixes to the table with his signature reshapes.  Heavy drums, floating synth lines, which hover over the landscaped drums, really take the listener on a trip. Tension builds throughout and the original vocals are reduced to freaky, indecipherable mutters that add another level of intrigue to an already heady track.

“Cruel Intentions” is an exquisite introduction to Art Department’s forthcoming sophomore album, “Natural Selection” which follows their highly esteemed 2011 debut, “The Drawing Board”. The album represents the music, the story and Art Department’s evolution from the projects inception until now, alongside Kenny and Jonny’s personal journeys as individuals.

Art Department recently announced their winter world tour which celebrates the release of “Natural Selection” and will see the duo take their immersive DJ performances to the world’s most esteemed venues, festivals and No.19 Music label showcases around the globe from this month until early 2015. Art Department have been installed as residents at CircoLoco, at arguably the most revered club on earth - DC-10 (Ibiza) since 2010 and have performed at legendary venues and trendsetting festivals worldwide, including Panorama Bar (Berlin), Fabric (UK), Warung (Brazil), Output (NY), Ultra Music Festival (Miami), Lollapalooza (Chicago), Tomorrowland (Belgium), BPM (Mexico), Burning Man (Black Rock), Coachella (California) to name just a few.
