Electronic supergroup ALSO, made up of Appleblim and Second Storey, return to R&S with the second in a trilogy of EPs. EP01 was a beguiling mixture of styles, bringing elements of dubstep, IDM, techno and bass music and interweaving them with the kind of precision composition lesser producers can only dream of emulating. The follow up continues in that vein, taking a range of influences and working them into a unique and distinctive sound. Opener ‘Formation’ lulls you into a false sense of calm with its Tycho-esque intro, before unexpectedly switching up the vibe for a glitchy space-funk mid-section. ‘Rant Check Parts 1 & 2’ picks up that thread and runs with it over 12 carefully measured but undeniably funky minutes.
