Ariel Zetina returns to femme culture with a brand new EP and her first release of 2020 - the cosmetic bomb which is ‘MUAs at the End of the World’, out everywhere on 21st February 2020.
Ariel Zetina is a Chicago based artist, focusing on music production and deejaying. Though her music can be considered techno, she takes inspiration from Chicago house, Belizean genres punta and brukdown, and the queer club scene worldwide. We first met her in 2018 when we were lucky enough to release her track ‘Divas’ ft Kiam Marcelo Junio as part of our very first HeForShe x UN Women compilation. And now we are thrilled to be able to release a full project by one of our all time favourite producers and DJs.
MUAs at the End of the World is a modern music mosaic - not only the EP’s metaphors and themes are varied throughout, the sound influences are wide-ranging too - from the grime elements of ‘Compact Mirrors’, to ‘Vanity 7’ being a (sample-less) cover of Vanity 6’s ‘Make Up’ with a trance twist, via the acid speed of ‘Channel’ which also includes elements of Belizean punta (notably the horn).
