Classic and Steel City Dance Discs artist Loods joins Patrick Topping’s Trick with an exceptional three-tracker entitled ‘Gummi EP’ this July.
Raised in the coastal and industrial town of Newcastle in Australia, Loods cut his teeth in Sydney before relocating to London in 2018. Dropping four massive records on longtime friend Mall Grab’s Steel City Dance Discs label, Loods has also made appearances on a select handful of other influential labels in the meantime: ‘Walking Away’ on Classic, which became Annie Mac’s ‘Hottest Record’ followed by regular rotation on BBC Radio 1; a collaboration with A-Trak on his Fool’s Gold Records; not to mention being tapped by Dusky to remix Chrissy on their 17 Steps imprint - a peak-time Italo house burner that went on to become Pete Tong’s ‘Essential New Tune’.
Powerful kicks and rhythmic bongos open up ‘Hot!’ as piercing vocals, laser-like effects and a catchy organ inspired synth operate throughout. Shuffling drums and soaring pads then form the scintillating ‘Gummi’, an ever evolving number with sultry bass and subtle piano riffs. Tying everything together, bubbling arps and tantalising melodies form the rich and otherworldly ‘Proto’.
