Londoner Liz Cass has come into the realm of electronic music vocal via Jazz. She honed her sultry melancholic tone through years of live performances. Her vocals have since graced releases for Get Physical and Anjunadeep. Liz collaborated with Citizenn on Culprit’s last release of 2019, “Someone (Just Like Her).” The song’s success inspired her and producer Ed Graves to rework the track as an ethereal acoustic song. Liz’s re-contextualized vocal soars above the gentle electric guitar rhythm and layers of beatless electronic textures.
"An acoustic interpretation of my collaboration Someone (Just Like Her) with Citizenn, released on Culprit LA in January. I felt the vocal would work well on a slower atmospheric arrangement. UK producer and multi-instrumentalist Ed Graves stripped it right back to electric guitar and some simple melancholy chords on the Prophet. We tried to create a feeling of haunting nostalgia. I hope people will connect with this version in a new way."
