Chris Larsen joins Lee Foss’ South Of Saturn imprint with three groove-led house cuts entitled ‘In Love EP’.
The last two years have seen Canadian DJ and producer Chris Larsen rise through the ranks with a slew of releases amongst a fruitful gig schedule, playing alongside the likes of Eats Everything, Sirus Hood and Harvard Bass to name a few. Having previously released on parent label Repopulate Mars’ ‘All-Stars’ VA and on Riva Starr’s Brock Wild, not to mention a collab with DJ Dagwood and Gettoblaster on Shiba San’s Basement LEAK, he now brings his club-focused cuts to the Los Angeles-based offshoot imprint.
‘In Love’ opens with solid drums, addictive synth lines, slick vocal loops and a low-slung bassline before ‘Side To Side’ rumbles with sub-driven rhythm, fluttering percussion and tight snares. Next, ‘Sugar Daddy’ flows with thumping low-end bass, layered claps and bright cymbals until harmonized vocal-chops are introduced, curating a luscious and warm sound floor.
