With this project, the leftfield artist demonstrates his musical scope encompassing breakbeat as well as IDM, having previously put out two such EPs back in 2017 under the same alias. Following his excellent album Happy Earthday on !K7 earlier this year Bjarki proves that, despite putting out so much music, he is still brimming with fresh ideas.
'IIIiiiIIiiiiiiiiiiiiiIIIIIIIiiiiiiiIIIIIiiiiiiii' loops a voice saying just that and shifts it through many different pitches and tempos as a flurry of breakbeats, rave stabs and jungle hits all get you in a spin. It is utterly unique and leads into the icy drum & bass of 'OpxThermin', with its tumbling hits and booming bass, weird animal sounds and general sense of unabashed energy. 'Get Slothered 6even2' is a darker track with more of his supremely tight, kinetic and intense drum programming overlaid with occult vocals, sci-fi mystery and shooting lasers.
'Rathakrem' then pairs things back somewhat to a more haunting atmosphere, with suspensory pads and a blizzard of IDM drum work propelling you along. The intriguingly titled track 'Crying Indian and Laser Horse' is a challenging offering to say the least, with melancholic chords and utterly wrought synths keeping you on edge.
