Soul legend Gwen McCrae's 1975 debut LP on Miami's CAT Records has long been a favourite with serious Funk and Soul aficionados since it's release.
The title track "Rockin' Chair" was the number one single on Billboard's "Hot Soul Singles" chart in June of the same year, no doubt keeping many dance-floors moving in Gwen's native Florida as well as across the nation.
The album would also later supply numerous Hip Hop producers with loops and samples to feed their hungry MPC's with it's laconic, soulful Miami Funk grooves thus placing album cuts like "90% Of Me is You" firmly in the minds and ears of a new generation of listeners.
"Rockin' chair" features an all star Miami writing and production outfit featuring the late Clarence Reid (Blowfly, Betty Wright, Dee Dee Sharpe, Wilson Pickett) and H.W. Casey (KC & The Sunshine Band) on writing duties alongside a whole host of legendary Sunshine State studio stalwarts.
Almost 40 years after it's original release the album has now been made available again for 2016, fully licensed and repressed with all original CAT Records artwork restored. Ready to be embraced by the next wave of future Funk and Soul fans and sample savvy beat makers alike.
