Number 4 from World Unknown arrives just in time to close 2011 out on a high. The party is now officially a roadblock and the label has already won all kinds of high friends in high places.
Side W is a big vocal banger from San Francisco synth duo Inhalt. When he lived in London Inhalt’s Matia was regular at WU and became very much a part of the family so it’s very apt that their first release is on the World Unknown label. This was originally sent over as the vocal of Walking On Glass and an instrumental version entitled Hart’s Theme because it reminded Matia of some of the 80s dark synth tracks that Joe plays at the party). Then Mr Blake had the bright idea of getting the razor blade and tape out and creating an extended version from the two parts and this 12” club version was born. As well as sounding ace at it’s proper speed this one’s pacey enough to sound really good given the 33+8 new beat slow down treatment by the more adventurous DJs out there.
Side U is in that big throbbing club style that WU has pretty much claimed as it’s own over the 2 years of the party and the few short months of the label’s life so far. Created by East London’s Jam Factory, Threads is slower, steadier and more strung out than their usual deep house grooves and as such is perfect for a WU 12” release. Expect to hear this at all kinds of places where pounding kickdrums, throbbing bass and flickering strobes is the order of the day. That’ll be most decent parties then.
