“The Exquisite Cops”- this 20+ track growing body of work will see the light of day via SMD’s Delicacies label – with a 2-track single released every fortnight and a limited edition double LP scheduled for the fall. Here's a few words by the artist on the 5th release, ToBeYouGotToBe:

Putting voices into a sampler is a well worn house music technique but it’s relatively new to me and has changed how I think about vocals. It’s strange that when you put words into a sampler it’s easy to mangle the meaning of the sentence that they came from but surprisingly hard for your brain not to find meaning in the result, unless it’s really obtusely mangled. This is a very gentle mangle, adding harmonies and counter melody but making it something that I could manipulate in real time made this feel like a synth, something that could be shaped into the track, something that could relate to synths and drum machines instead of just sitting on top.

Tic Tacs Without Strategy

I’ve by no means proved this but for a while I’ve been testing my hypothesis that people who quote Sun Tzu should be avoided.
