- A. Little Sunflower
Lifted from Hubbard's lauded 1979 LP 'The Love Connection', this sublime piece of melodic, deep, Soul / Jazz will have ears and minds open with it's instantly recognisable opening string sequence. Used to devastating effect on Pepe Bradock's all-time 1999 deep-House classic 'Deep Burnt', those sweeping strings capture us and lead us into a epic journey with the wondrous vocal stylings of the legendary singer Al Jarreau. This is prime early morning music, pushing all the right buttons and spreading light wherever it is played, a beautiful beautiful record indeed. What is essentially an extended and rearranged version of Hubbard's 1967 original, the '79 version of 'Little Sunflower' boasts a sumptuous arrangement and production from the mighty Claus Ogerman (Ben E King, Mel Torme, Bill Evans, Antonio Carlos Jobim & more). A truly wondrous piece of music, reissued on a single side in it's full 12" length of 9+ minutes from the source archive audio. Fully legit, licensed and reissued with love by Above Board distribution and Columbia Records / Sony BMG for Record Store Day, 2019.

Double header reissue heat from the Unidisc back catalogue! One of the most in demand titles from the cult Canadian labels repertoire - Punkin Machine’s “I Need You Tonight” was first heard in the clubs in 1981 and received anthemic status, finding new favour with DJ's in the early 2000's excavating the wide world of Disco (the track featured on DFA's legendary Fabric mix CD in 2007). - A. Aset Forever (Brame & Hamo Remix)
- B. Staunch (KETTAMA Remix)
Following the release of the ‘Aset Forever’ EP in September, Dusky announce Brame & Hamo and KETTAMA as remixers of EP tracks ‘Amongst The Gods’ and ‘Staunch’.
On the ‘Amongst The Gods’ remix, Irish born, Berlin based duo Brame & Hamo bring distorted kicks and industrial percussion that are sprinkled with euphoric samples from the original, helping to provide an unequivocally rave ready flip.
Fellow Irishman, and rising star, KETTAMA takes the reigns on ‘Staunch’, turning the dark and brooding original into a thumping hard house epic punctuated with zapping synths and hefty percussion.
- A. Guti - Red Eye (Kenny Larkin Black Eye Remix)
- B. Guti - Red Eye (Kenny Larkin Pink Eye Remix)
Headz up! Guti’s current club cutter ‘Red Eye’ continues to wriggle and writhe its way hypnotically into our sets and psyches with these two crucial versions from one of house and techno’s most respected gentlemen… The one and only Kenny Larkin.
Weighing in at a combined length of 20+ minutes, both remixes capture the Detroit legend at his deepest and most cosmic with his hands glued to the dials. Not just part of the biggest single from Guti’s ‘Year Of The Conga’ album so far, they also tell a unique tale of their own…
These mixes were originally meant for the full release earlier this year, alongside killer mixes from Loco Dice and Priku. But when Larkin received a shiny new Moog One he rang Guti and label bosses the Martinez Brother and told them that they’d have to wait… He was about go back in with a whole new modular perspective.
You can feel it, too; that deep throb on the subs and trippy psychedelic swirls of his ‘Black Eye’ mix and that wobbling voluptuous bassline in his ‘Pink Eye’ mix are just two examples of Kenny’s attention to sonic detail and pure analogweight on these two immersive, alluring remixes.
Well worth the wait, and another precision chapter to the beautiful back-to-roots adventure that is Guti’s third artist album ‘Year Of The Conga’, don’t sleep on these… They’re going out strictly as Record Store Day specials. Vinyl crew, this one’s for you.

- A1. Phantom Power
- A2. Phantom Power (Voigtmann Remix)
- B1. Distorted Lens
- B2. Ssub Space
Leftroom continue their rejuvenated, rich vein of subversive form with this dynamite 12” from a man who needs no introduction whatsoever: Alex Arnout.
Long time Leftroom kindred spirit and close friend, first time label artist, here we find the Dogmatik bossman in stone cold groove mode with three crystalline originals and a powerful remix from fellow London-based craftsmasn Voigtmann.
‘Phantom Power’ ignites the EP with pure signal energy. Unhurried in its gradually twinkling charm, what begins as a dark dubby sound soon flips into a timeless rising harmonic hook that’s unabashed in its strong themes of uplift and positivity. Watch as you floor turns to jelly when those chords sweep in. Then drop the Voigtmann remix and watch as every single limb loosens up to that distinctive, fluid dark late nightLondon funk that the Toi Toi Musik founder has made his own.
‘Distorted Lens’ brings up the rear, leading the B-side with bubbly jacking charm. Molten in its groove shape and flow, it’s peppered with vast emotional washes that sweep in and arrest the senses when you least expect it.
Last but not least, ‘Ssub Space’ closes the show with a crafty flip from bubbling to wriggling. Here we find Alex fixes our focus on the dirtier bottom end of the track. Shifty, switchyand just on the right side of tippy, if this isn’t moving your lower lumber, you need to reconnect with a dancefloor very very soon.

On April 13, 2019 Record Day, Vega Records celebrates with the new release “My Body” performed by none other than the Legend and King R&B, soul singer Luther Vandross. This is a song that was never released and was recorded back in 1979 by Luther Vandross when he was working on the collossal album “Never Too Much”. Brought to Louie Vega by artist and renowned background singer to the greats Mr. Fonzi Thornton, Vega was able to work on the immaculate sounds of Vandross. As Vega recalls “When I put up the tracks in my studio it sounded as if Luther were singing today, it made it so easy to come with the house grooves having such a perfect vocal performance and one of a kind tone. Once I came with the music, I felt I needed to bring in his original background singers, the A-team, which Fonzi organized in a flash. He called upon the genius singers Brenda White, Lisa Fischer, Cindy Mizelle, Tawatha Agee and of he joined the session. We are talking the A-Team of background singers, a dream come true in my studio”, Vega recalls. “And what a session it was!”
To add to this impeccable package is a stunning art piece by Richard Wilson on the cover of the vinyl double pack 12”. There are seven versions to choose from ready to work b2b.
LOUIE VEGA SENDS A BIG HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO LUTHER VANDROSS (which is on April 20, 2019) & THANK YOU TO FONZI THORNTON, SEVETA WILLIAMS, AND VANDROSS MUSIC, LLC.
