Track ListingA1. Running Out Of Time (Sons Dub) B1. Running Out Of Time (Sons Wreck Mix)
DescriptionAs part of tici taci's 10 year celebrations, we are proud to present a soundclash between Primal Scream and Sons of Slough. Ian Weatherall takes up the story : - "I was listening to various Primal Scream tracks a while ago and just kept coming back to Running out Of Time - a bonus track on More Light (deluxe version) - and I just really liked it. I was talking to Andrew Innes and Bobby G and asked if anyone had ever done anything with it, and whether we could have a go - just as a studio project, nothing else. They sent us the parts and myself and Duncan Gray had great fun in the studio doing our thing. We sent the results back to the Primals and Bobby really liked it - he asked us if we'd thought about doing a limited edition 12" release .... and here it is" The 12" has two versions of Running out Of Time - firstly a dub version with Jah Wobble inspired bass and plenty of Echodek style action, and then a deep dive version more akin to Crooked man, who the Sons are big fans of. Running Out of Time will be released on July 21st 2023

Track ListingA1. Suzuka A2. Salzburg B1. Aucklands Groove B2. Lovin U
DescriptionThere have been more than murmurs about Sam Alfred lately. The 22-year-old Naarm-based producer has been on quite the tear, releasing a slew of dreadnought records. Born in Egypt with a proud South Sudanese background, Sam brings a worldly essence to the Australian club landscape. Already, the young producer has fashioned a distinctive energy to his sets and songwriting, one full of joy and fervour. Needless to say, folks are picking up what he’s putting down. Next up is his Suzuka EP, a bullish 4 tracker that we’re proud to emblazon with the Gallery insignia. A bundle of tunes that call to charged dancefloors and the unshackling of day-to-day stresses. Opening with force, we’re greeted by the title record ‘Suzuka’. Made up of a mean kick, euphoric synth strokes and hyper 808s, this one doesn’t let up. As beastly as ‘Suzuka’ is – there’s a warm and inviting undercurrent, an encouragement to gather your crew and party well into the wee hours. No doubt, DJs from both hemispheres will send crowds hopping mad with this bullet train. You only need to take a look at his sold-out Boiler Room HERE to see the stir this armament creates. Second, in line is ‘Salzburg’. An ode to 90’s rave culture, the track canters along with glee, full of fuzzed-out pads and a roaring vocal sample. Spliced throughout are galactic whirls that serve as perfect interludes to what’s an all-out riot. Tumbling over to the B-side, we come ear-to-ear with ‘Auckland's Groove’. Having been out since early December, this piano-laden roller continues to shine. Bringing a lovely buoyancy to the tune are squelchy kickdrums and lively sirens. A nod to Alfred’s skills in composition and ability to brew certain moods. Rounding out the body of work, ‘Lovin U’ comes into land. Defined by an enticing two-step rhythm, whirring synth play and sundry percussion, Sam signs out with serious polish. An honest and skilful interpretation of house that’s built to get people moving. Sam Alfred’s music is one of energy, celebration and satisfaction and this is an ideal ending. Over the next eight weeks, Sam has a delectable schedule including a slot at Melbourne’s Laneway Festival, sold-out support slots with XCLUB in both Sydney and Melbourne along with call-ups to Perth’s Roam Festival, Pitch Music & Arts and Digi Culture & Music in the nation’s capital. If that wasn’t enough, the amped producer will then embark on his very first headline tour of Australia. 2023 is seriously picking up steam for Sam.

Track ListingA1. Devil's Hands A2. Devil's Hands (Lunar Disco & TAYA. Dirty Club Mix) B1. Devil's Hands (Luciano Remix) B2. Devil's Hands (Anthony Middleton Remix)
DescriptionAustralia-based duo Lunar Disco land on Crosstown Rebels with new single ‘Devil’s Hands’, remixed by house heavyweights Luciano and Anthony Middleton. Comprised of DJ and composer Nicolas Blistene and his singer-songwriter partner Kate Elsworth, Lunar Disco rose through the Parisian house scene but are now based in Australia, producing music that fuses live vocals and rich electronic textures. They veer towards the deeper, more sensual and playful end of the spectrum, while Kate has also been in hot demand as a vocalist by the likes of Deep Dish and labels such as Mobilee. Building on releases via Blond:ish’s Abracadabra Music, Kindisch and their own Suck My Disco imprint, late July welcomes a debut appearance on Crosstown Rebels for the release of their latest single, ‘Devil’s Hands’. ‘Devil’s Hand’ is a low-slung and sleazy take on indie disco. The bass is rough, with wild guitar riffs adding an extra layer next to the swinging, macho disco drums, while Kate’s steamy vocal brings inviting human soul as psyched-out guitars add a spaghetti western-style energy. The track then comes as a ‘Dirty Club Mix’ by Lunar Disco and Rebellion signee TAYA., opting for a rubbery groove for the back room, with moody bass and electronic pulses taking it deep into the night. Swiss-Chilean minimal maestro, long-time cult underground hero, and Cadenza boss Luciano heads up the B-side as he draws on his Latin heritage to cook up intricate percussive grooves across his remix to lock in listeners. His drums are rolling but heavy, and the claps and hits are layered carefully into an infectious tangle that never lets up. As both one half of Audiofly and on his own, final remixer Anthony Middleton has been at the heart of the house scene for many years, featuring as a vital presence in Ibiza each summer. His remix is sparse, with cosmic synths unfolding over elastic drums and bass. It’s subtle but emotionally intense and will make for a perfect late-night trip.

Track ListingA1. Lilac Cobwebs (ft. Selena Jones) A2. Deity Spear B1. Cosmic Horror B2. Switchblade Groove
DescriptionFour tracks of esoteric and spatial electronica are served up on Quartz’s debut release for R&S Records. Via releases for Metalheadz, Rupture London and System Music, amongst others, the ascending producer from Cardiff has impressed with his unique take on drum & bass, and more recently via grime influenced dubstep. A thrilling hybrid of sounds and rhythms are pulled together on the ‘Deity Spear’ release as Quartz deploys angular breakbeats, gargantuan bass tones, convoluted rhythms, and panoramic sound design across four mesmerising tracks. The opening track ‘Lilac Cobwebs’ is a reference and homage to his deceased mother, featuring a snippet of one of her last voice notes to him, and a reference to a colour he fondly remembers of her. Track ListingA1. Taxi Talk A2. Taxi Talk (David Löhlein Remix) B. Taki Talk (Sterac Electronics Remix)
DescriptionNina Kraviz returns to Rekids with remixes of ‘Taxi Talk’ from David Löhlein and Sterac Electronics. In the years since Nina Kraviz dropped some of her earliest music on Radio Slave's Rekids, she has become a bonafide global superstar. Founding two record labels трип (trip) and Galaxiid, she regularly headlines the world's largest music festivals and has continued to stay at the forefront of electronic music. 'Taxi Talk', initially released on Kraviz’s lauded eponymous debut LP in 2012, still stands the test of time with its spoken word vocals and smoky deep house grooves. Remixing the track alongside its reissue is Vision Ekstase founder and Lehmann Club resident David Löhlein who turns in a fresh remix, and Dutch techno mainstay Steve Rachmad, who unearths a remix made under his Sterac Electronics guise that had, until recently, been unreleased. Löhlein’s remix sees the Stuttgart-based artist reach for his trademark ’snake sound’, delivering a sleek version flipped into a quick and urgent cut with pulsating synths and dynamic minimal drum funk. Sterac Electronics brings a distinctive sense of electric funk with a boogie-tinged remix full of colourful synths and hip-swinging drums that cannot fail to light up the floor.

Track ListingA1. Brillantine A2. Eyeliner B1. Eyeliner (Mall Grab Remix) B2. Lip Plumper
DescriptionSteel City Dance Discs presents the ‘Wonder’ EP from fast-rising Italian artist Matisa. Fresh and filled with spirit, Matisa kicks off the EP with the transcendent, IDM-meets-Bingo Beats energy of ‘Brilliantine’, where twisted modulations fuse in harmony with angelic abstract vocals. Her original ‘Eyeliner’ is a euphoric breakbeat hardcore stomper, whilst Mall Grab’s take on the same track goes in harder with jacking drums, ecstatic rave stabs and menacing bass. Closing the EP is ‘Lip Plumper’ – a hypnotic stripped-back house cut which nods to UKG. This EP represents a significant moment in Matisa’s musical journey, as she evokes a combination of discovering yourself through creative expression with losing yourself on the dancefloor.

DescriptionThe electronic, experimental group Gravité from San Fransisco is releasing their third album ”III” on Höga Nord Rekords. Their sound varies from motorik and beat driven, airy compositions to heavier denser numbers with swelling pads, glittering arpeggios and powerful Moog basses. ”III”’s balanced production gives the elements in the music room to breath and the tracks on the album often stands on a solid 80’s foundation; ”Into The I” sounds like an hommage to classic arcade game soundtracks but without modern Retrowave pastiches. ”Elation” on the other hand is three and a half minutes of cool and refreshing oceanspray. Like migrating birds, Matthew Riley and Aaron Diko seem have an inner pathfinder, leading them right no matter what musical airspace they’re flying in.
