Venetian born Simone de Kunovich takes the Superconscious sound into refreshingly bizarre territory with his debut 12” Mondo Nuovo Vol. 1. A student of film and the arts, Simone digs deep into archives of the mondo and exploitation genres, sampling obscurities and piecing them together with vintage synthesisers and a modern ear, producing mind-melting psychedelia suitable for late-night hypnotica and introspective home-listening.
From the manic resonance in “Strategia della Tensione” to the blissful atmospheres of “Mondo Segreto”, Mondo Nuovo Vol 1. is an intelligent collage of inspirations that blurs the lines between dance music and cinematic artefacts. A unique experience which sits comfortably amongst the Superconscious back catalogue.

It’s safe to say that Detroit, a city steeped in economic, cultural and musical history, will soon weave its way into your soul should you spend any sustained time there. This rings all too true for Monty Luke. He has immersed himself in Detroit’s scene since moving to the Motor City in 2008.
His new eight track LP, released via Dogmatik, showcases the style of a new generation of Detroit producers carrying the beacon for a deep, Detroit sound that blends analogue weight and punchy drum programming together with masterful synth work and raw emotion.
Even at first glance the polarised artwork, an aerial map of Detroit, shows the more introspective nature of this Motor City ingrained release, with Luke purposefully steering away from writing club ready material. Introductory track ‘City Lights’ gives a first taste of this, combining swelling synths, dreamlike arps and crisp percussive hits. There’s a real weight to the bass synth that compliments Abi B’s soulful vocals all too well.
‘Anton’s Room’ & ‘Crime Wave’ follow suit – the former with its layered gritty bass, expansive stabs, glitchy bleeps and undulating arps and the latter creating a sonic swell between your ears manifested by a surging, panned arp, alongside sirens and punchy, gunshot like snares. Inspirations from Moodymann to Theo Parrish are clear to be seen in tracks like ‘Move’, taking a range of jazzy loops and samples and chopping them into a low slung, bouncing MPC laden jam.
Progressing into the 2nd half of the album there’s a transition from deep, Detroit house into harder hitting, electro territory. ‘Willie Maze’ with its killer drum programming, reverberating Rhodes and dynamic bass and ‘Roja’, combining emotive late-night chords and melancholic synth melodies, really hone in on that pensive, thought-provoking aesthetic. One of the highlights, ‘Wasteland’, is the best example of this transition – interlacing a commanding electro drum pattern with squelching, synth melodies and Serene Arena’s introspective lyrics.
Then taking it full circle, closing track ‘Block Is Hot (Black Hole Mix)’ - co-produced by King Britt in Philadelphia (alongside City Lights, Crime Wave & Willie Maze), returns to the 4/4 path with a thumping party track, carrying through that raw nature emanating from the dark melodies and Monty’s adlibbed vocals.
‘Hard Work/ Not Hype’ is a record flying the flag for those underground artists working tirelessly behind closed doors to produce material that’s based on feeling, emotion and skill, rather than riding off the back of an inflated, socially constructed image. Monty Luke, as someone that follows that mantra, has been able to construct an album showcasing this, creating a real weight and depth to this release; it’s raw, powerful and thought provoking, expertly capturing the soul of Detroit - the city that’s had such a profound effect on him.

The lifespan for humans is estimated at less then 100 years in this dimension. Due to this limitation, they seem to lack patience trying to attain their goals in this world. I’m sure that this is the case for most humans in particular, but the focus in this mission statement will be based on the Electronic Music Scene.
From the first arrival to this world and watching the current state of electronic music unfold, things seem a bit stagnant. There seems to be a drastic influx of so-called artist/ producers that are trying to influence the genre and the passive aggressive assault on what the pioneers have created. Until these souls truly study the art of music production, their track releases should be frowned upon. Their foundation should be to learn how this sound was created and how they can contribute to it moving forward.
Why not study to be a techno historian, it’ll only be a benefit. If you don’t understand the past, then there is no real future. Life-forms in this dimension need to understand the past to change the future, otherwise we’ll make the same mistakes over and over and time after time nothing will ever evolve. These words do not speak for Eqwel, however my feeling is that Eqwel has been spawned to contribute quality music to this genre for the indefnite future.
The mass understanding of Techno is the main goal for Eqwel, because if you truly understand this music, you’ll be mentally teleported to another state of mind. This audio telemetry is the answer to get lost inside the relentless nature of the low end frequencies, that is filled with percussions of high intensity. It’s been over well over a year since Eqwel has been contributing to the electronic music scene on a deeper underground level, so it’ll take some time before the earthlings are ready to be introduced to some new ideas. This society has been programmed to only like what they are told to by massive advertisements, with such vast dimensions why listen to these commercial programmers.
Listen to yourself. Music keeps us feeling alive, during our stay in this sedative society. Words & Observations by: Shadow

- B1. A Dance for Gratitude
A story that is told through music, of a Japanese artist who travels to a foreign land and fi finds her true calling through the guidance of melody, rhythm, dance, mentorships and friendships.
Music by: Mental Remedy. Produced by Joaquin Joe Claussell For Sacred Rhythm Music & Cosmic Arts
Although the music on this CD Album was written, produced and performed by Joaquin Joe Claussell aka "Mental Remedy." it should not be mistaken as a Mental Remedy album. What is this, however, is a music soundtrack based on a story which was shared with Joaquin Joe Claussell by a good friend and fellow artist Naoyo Terada.
Born and Raised in Japan, Naoyo set out on a journey to America that began around 20 years ago. In pursuing her dream and new way of life; Naoyo set her sights on America. While there and within a relatively short period of time, she has been blessed with valuable lessons, as well as gained profound insights that would not only bring out from within-her calling as an artist, but more profound, bestow upon her lessons on spirituality, creativity and a love for music that would dramatically change her life moving forward…
It is important that you the listener are made aware that, “This is not a usual dance music CD.” Rather, it should be listened and absorbed as conscious, cosmic feel good music. But only if you open your mind and let a stranger in. The harmonic tones will do the rest of the healing…

- A1. Her Moon
- B1. It’s All Behind
- B2. Nowhere Beach
Tibi Dabo is the latest project from Barcelona born DJ and producer Max Guardans.
Following on from last year’s La Dorada on Rebellion, he brings his enigmatic sonic
exploration to Crosstown this May.
The EP opens up with the gentle yet thudding bass of Her Moon. The track is ten minutes
of pure euphoria. Mesmerising cosmic synths travel towards the first breakdown where the
track enters a darker phase before they weave their way back in as a 90s inspired piano
topline joins proceedings. It’s All Behind takes the EP on a deeper trip with an emotive,
soulful, vocal and shimmering melodies. Closing the EP, Nowhere Beach deploys a rapid
beat with industrial hints and a rolling bassline, whilst keeping the cosmic feel of its
predecessors. A warm synthline uplifts in the breakdown.
The alias of Max Guardans, Tibi Dabo is also the name of a mountain that overlooks
Guardans’ hometown of Barcelona. Under this alias the young DJ and producer seeks to
explore and experiment with a wide and varied sonic soundscape. His first EP, 2017’s
Ende, was signed to Sasha’s highly acclaimed label, Last Night On Earth. Last year’s
offering La Dorada was picked up by Damian Lazarus who signed it to his Rebellion
imprint, with both EPs showcasing Guardans’ ability to create evocative music that shows
a musical maturity beyond his years.

- B1. Snowfall
- B2. Alps
The Daniel Avery supported Russian DJ Dimitri Veimar preps his debut 17 Steps release, the ‘Planet EP’.
Planet opens up with screeching atmospherics, chuggy percussion and a brooding bassline that works it’s way towards a breathless synth line perfectly suited for pre-dawn hours.
Dean Grenier’s classy stripped back and sped up flip of the title track retains a crisp four-on-the-floor rhythm tailor made for the Berlin clubs he calls home.
On the B side 'Snowfall’ carries on where the A side left off. Electro synths and muffled breaks portray the sounds of a UFO control deck transporting the listener to an other worldly utopia.
The closing track ‘Alps’ is a stunning downtempo club tool that ends up forming the emotional centrepiece of the EP.

Banoffee Pies Records ninth edition to their original series lands on BP009 featuring Vancouver duo Plush Managements Inc. aka D. Tiffany, rising producer and label manager at the wonderful Planet Euphorique, and Regularfantasy of Total Stasis, with their sub heavy trance state track with rolling hi hats "Plush Egg” on the A1. The A2 comes from Kiev born techno artist Voin Oruwu who joins with futuristic break beat drum rhythms and swirling vocal hook on “After All". The B side takes a darker turn with raw and clean dance floor garage from another Bristol local, Hartta on “Trust Issues”. The B2 ends with experimentation from the classically trained UK musician Keppel, with game like soundscapes in “Atari”s accelerating cinematic instrumentation. Music for the floor. One love, BP x

- A1. I Can’t Go On. I’ll Go On
- A2. Blue Veil - Small Prophecies
- B1. Another Day
- B2. I Don’t Want to Die in Dalston
Blue Veil, AKA Danny Clancy, serves up four mesmerising productions for his Dichotomy label’s fifth release.
Having already showcased stunning releases from Mary Yalex and Ahu, Blue Veil continues to shape the sound and aesthetics of this burgeoning label with the “Dreaming In Colour” EP.
Choral pads breeze over an uncluttered rhythm on the stunning “I Can’t Go On. I’ll Go On”, whilst “Small Prophecies” drifts over forlorn piano chords and an almost tropical rhythm pattern.
A brooding and dusty breakbeat heralds “Another Day”, switching up the EPs tempo for a slower jam, but still bathed in blankets of soulful tones, whilst “I Don’t Want to Die in Dalston” is another emotive composition filled with deft musical refrains and big, panoramic melodies.

- A1. Fragments Into Nothing
- A2. The Manitou
- B1. Disconnected (Odyssey Mix)
- B2. Disconnected (Solid Blake Remix)
Tred returns to E-Missions with four otherworldly electro cuts entitled
‘Fragments Into Nothing’ featuring a robust remix from Solid Blake.
Dropping his debut release on E-Missions just over a year ago, which received
support from the likes of Boris, Mama Snake, Volvox and Courtesy, Tred’s
continued turning heads ever since, performing both in his birthplace of Australia,
Asia as well as many of Berlin’s finest clubs, notably regular appearances at
Tresor. Kick-starting this year with a release on Australian label Doe Dee, he now
returns to P.Leone & Caiazzo’s consistently quality E-Missions imprint bringing
three twisting tracks.
‘Fragments Into Nothing’ is built on crunchy snares, soaring pads and aquatic
effects whilst ‘The Manitou’ is more raw in comparison with its thunderous kicks,
chugging low-end and sci-fi synths. Quick and intricate, ‘Disconnected’ features
an analog bassline, ethereal chords and distorted vocal murmurs, making way for
a slower, more muscular remix from Glaswegian producer Solid Blake.
- A. Ground Control
- B. Last Communication
Matt Edwards launches Stranger in The Night with his first solo material since 2017.
The Rekids offshoot will release regular music by four artists, namely Radio Slave, King
Britt, Anthony Rother and Fred P, who will each drop three EPs over the next year.
“With Rekids being 100% focused on releasing music for dance floors I felt the need to
create a new platform to explore a wider musical vision and invite some of my all-time
electronic musical heroes to be a part of the series,” says Matt Edwards.
Both numbers near the 12-minute mark but each track portrays a different aesthetic.
Opening with precision drums and crystalline notes, ‘Ground Control’ makes a nod
towards the hi-tech soul sound of Detroit and drives forward using a sultry bassline, erratic
chords and the occasional icy stab as an array of contrasting sounds operate in unison.
On the flip, a syncopated rhythm lays the foundation for ‘Last Communication’ whilst a
tantalising melody joins poignant synths, constructing a profound and hypnotising journey.
- A1. Nite Fleit - Hot Bot
- A2. Mall Grab - Reconnaissance
- B1. Mall Grab & Nite Fleit - Anatomy of the Senses
- B2. Mall Grab & Nite Fleit - Moogie
LFT003 is an introduction to the music that Jordon Alexander (Mall Grab) and long-time friend, housemate and sometimes-DJ-partner Alysha Fleiter (Nite Fleit) have worked on over the past year together. The product of swapping stems on tour, trains and at home, the ‘Moogie’ EP combines two individual and two collaborative tracks for the third release on the Looking For Trouble label.
After destroying dance floors worldwide, Nite Fleit’s “Hot Bot” finally sees the light of day at A1. With EBM-leaning atmospheric percussion and a huge pulsating bassline, this is a proven peak time club weapon.
Mall Grab’s “Reconnaissance” (A2) is another club-geared stomper with a throbbing bassline and breakbeat homage that operates deep within old-skool rave territory. Having made its mark as an unidentified dub in all of MG’s sets over the past year, “Reconnaissance” is now ready to be unleashed!
B1, “Anatomy of the Senses”, the collaborative debut from Nite Fleit and Mall Grab, is a promising introduction to future products of this fusion. With NF’s signature evolving and pulsing basslines/synthesis, and MG’s distinct drum programming/synth licks, this trance-acid-tekno 4/4 stomper is an unapologetic body-shaker.
Closing off the record, “Moogie” (B2) is the second official melding of the minds of NF + MG, an electronica-leaning electro number that feels as at home in headphones as it does on a packed dance floor.

* The latest EP (S.U.F.O.S. Save Us From Ourselves) from South London based producer, arranger and multi-instrumentalist, Wu-Lu.
* Pressed using 180g clear heavyweight vinyl
* Includes collaborations with long-term friends, Binisa Bonner, Kwake Bass, Nubya Garcia, Eun, Demae Wodu, and Morgan Simpson.
* Recorded at The Room and Abbey Road Studios
* Limited edition of 300
Having worked with the likes of MNDSGN (Stones Throw) and Andrew Ashong on his previous 2015 EP Ginga, Wu-Lu has already secured some strong production credits. These include Ego Ella May, Oscar Jerome and Poppy Ajudah, as well as work alongside Joe Armon-Jones (Ezra Collective) and Kwake Bass (Kate Tempest, Sampha) on a brand new project coming in 2020.
S.U.F.O.S. sees Wu-Lu collaborate with long-term friends Binisa Bonner, Kwake Bass, Nubya Garcia, Eun, Demae Wodu, and Morgan Simpson (drummer from band Black Midi). Thematically, it’s a reflection of where Wu-Lu sees himself and his people in 2019 London. This EP taps into racial injustice in Britain, black empowerment and self-exploration. Spending much of his time working behind the scenes for a range of artists, this EP helps define him as a soloist.
Speaking about S.U.F.O.S. Wu-Lu says, “The EP is about family in every sense of the word: blood family, spiritual family, extended family, your family. It’s the perception of my own experience and the young people who haven’t got a loud enough voice yet”.
Wu-Lu is no stranger to experimentation within his music. He has constantly been experimenting with the various influences on his Brixton doorstep, as well as some of the complex issues that a young, mixed race man living in London may face. It’s the live stage where the impact of Wu-Lu’s passionate retellings really come into their own. Recent standouts include sharing the Field Day main stage with the likes of Erykah Badu and Loyle Carner, Brainchild Festival and a feverish Clash Music LIVE appearance at Metropolis Studios alongside Masego.
Catch Wu-Lu headline The Windmill, Brixton on the 25th April 2019.

On April 13, 2019 Record Day, Vega Records celebrates with the new release “My Body” performed by none other than the Legend and King R&B, soul singer Luther Vandross. This is a song that was never released and was recorded back in 1979 by Luther Vandross when he was working on the collossal album “Never Too Much”. Brought to Louie Vega by artist and renowned background singer to the greats Mr. Fonzi Thornton, Vega was able to work on the immaculate sounds of Vandross. As Vega recalls “When I put up the tracks in my studio it sounded as if Luther were singing today, it made it so easy to come with the house grooves having such a perfect vocal performance and one of a kind tone. Once I came with the music, I felt I needed to bring in his original background singers, the A-team, which Fonzi organized in a flash. He called upon the genius singers Brenda White, Lisa Fischer, Cindy Mizelle, Tawatha Agee and of he joined the session. We are talking the A-Team of background singers, a dream come true in my studio”, Vega recalls. “And what a session it was!”
To add to this impeccable package is a stunning art piece by Richard Wilson on the cover of the vinyl double pack 12”. There are seven versions to choose from ready to work b2b.
