    1. A1. The Zauberflöte
    2. A2. The Zauberflöte (Black Loops Remix)
    3. B1. Focus
    4. B2. Focus (Kevin Over Remix)

The past few years have seen Berlin’s Frag Maddin release material on Waze & Odyssey’s W&O Street Tracks, Rough Recordings and Egg London’s What Came First as well as offering up a remix on Roog & Dennis Quin’s EP for Madhouse where her returns to here for a full EP featuring remixes from fellow Berlin based acts Black Loops and Kevin Over.

Taking the lead on the package is ‘The Zauberflöte’ with it’s skippy hi-hats, hooky organ licks, hypnotic Rhodes melodies and vocal cuts all further fuelled by a snaking sub-bass groove to create a slice of authentic house for one of the leading labels of the genre. Black Loops turns in a remix of ‘The Zauberflöte’ next, stripping things back to a deeper, more refined feel with spiraling, filtered elements of the original wandering around swinging 909 drums to create a groove-drive counterpart to the original.

‘Focus’ opens the latter half of the package, the second original from Frag Maddin which employs chugging square wave bass tones and dynamically evolving drums alongside tension building strings and choppy stabs before Keving Over closes the package with his gritty take on ‘Focus’, featuring crunchy drums, dusty chords and cleverly arranged string and key samples.

Frag Maddin’s ‘Ferienhouse’ EP is out on Madhouse Records 13th April 2018.

Ultra tight & rare Soul / Funk stylings from Mississippi's Natural High outfit.

Originally released in 1979 on the Chimneyville label, an obscure soul imprint operating as part of the Miami Malaco label family tree.

This one has it all - lush strings and orchestration, tight as rhythm section, amazing songwriting and everything else in-between.

Amazing that this group only cut one LP and a handful of singles. The talent on display here is truly of another level and one wonders how such an album came to be.

Either way, this is an amazing set of rarest of rare grooves and the LP has been a heavily coveted item by the rare record cognoscenti in the past. This is a 100% legit repress, made in conjunction with the rights holders and remastered to the highest possible standard, a truly essential record for fans of quality underground soul & funk. Now's your chance to bag a copy for a decent price! Quality all around

Following the massive buzz a round the label's last release (voted THE record of 2017 by some 400+ international DJs and tastemakers on Bill Brewster's DJ History Podcast/poll (2017 Furtive 50) , Hobbes Music kicks off 2018 with a heavy slice of warehouse techno backed with deeper electro flavours, a second double-A-side 12" outing by the anonymous DALI.

You may remember DALI (NB all caps in the spelling) released a debut 12" around this time last year. Support came from Ben UFO, Laurent Garnier, Domenic Cappello (Sub Club), John Heckle, Chris Duckenfield, The Revenge, Tom Findlay (Groove Armada), Sean Johnston and XDB (among others) and a repress happened swiftly, with Laurent Garnier and Avalon Emersonalso supporting most recently (on WWFM and at Berghain, respectively).

DALI has a passion for analogue synths, abstract, hypnotic dance music and all things psychedelic. Don't bother looking her up on the net, social media etc. DALI is eschewing all that, to let the music do the talking for now.

    Screen-printed & hand-stamped limited edition 12" (150). Vinyl-only (includes download code).

    1. A1. Marry Me
    2. B1. Dictionary (Remix)

Highlife throws a curveball for it’s next release with a piece of Kwaito from South Africa’s DJ Call Me.

A track sweeter than Irn Bru, we first stumbled across ‘Marry Me’ on the radio by the New York DJ, Sadaf. After a quick search, we found it on YouTube with over a million views, only to discover it had been “track of the summer(s)” back in South Africa at the start of the decade. Almost a ‘Searching for Sugarman’ moment... The track wasn’t available to buy in any kind of format, and so began an elaborate quest to track down the artist via his defunct Facebook page. After many an unanswered email and a couple of years persistence, we finally managed to track down a manager still in touch with DJ Call Me, and we’re now involved in some regular Whatsapp exchanges with the man himself.

After showing it to a select group of DJ pals, it began to show up on the ID of music Facebook group, courtesy of plays by the likes of Axel Boman, Hunee & Kornél Kovács. Last summer, Auntie Flo and Andrew played at a wedding in Beirut and this track got such a massive reaction that we’ve been dying to share it with you ever since. DJ Call Me’s ‘Marry Me’ is out via Highlife on Fri, 20th April 2018.

    1. A1. Yesterday Today Forever
    2. A2. By My Side
    3. B1. Always There
    4. B2. Endless Source Of Love

Massiande has become one of the most captivating talents South America has produced for authentic House music.

An artist of multicultural roots, he was born in 1988 in Santiago, Chile, has lived most of his life to the side of US American people, has Dutch family heritage and his name derives from a Sierra Leone dialect. All of these global influences have had a great effect in the way he perceives and lives music.

Growing up as a profound and dedicated fan of Soul, Jazz and Disco; discovering House, a genre that connected these genres' roots with electronic experimentation, was a life turning point.

DJing since 2007, he is known for performing emotive and dynamic sets, with a moving soulful drive that resembles much of the spirit of New York, Chicago and Detroit pioneers.

After starting to focus on music production, 2013 brought his debut record "Heart Rushed Love" through German label Housewax, a record of classic vibes that received praise for its charm and character on underground scenes worldwide and, most notably, from House music artists in Chicago, including his personal hero, House maestro Larry Heard. Such a start would be a sign of great things to come.

Inspired by the same Chicago spirit, in 2015 the release of "Stand", through the prestigious MOS Recordings, represented a step further in his career as a producer, finding its place on the crates of DJs as diverse as Patrice Scott, Voiski, Apparat or Honey Soundsystem.

These days, Massiande brings a deeper and mature House sound which is reaching a wider audience, with his conceptual "Freedom" EP through UK's Phonica Records and the landmark "Yesterday, Today, Forever" EP on Jimpster's Freerange, while also revealing a consistent variety of skills on a fully dancefloor-oriented EP for Hercules & Love Affair's Mr. Intl imprint.

With a growing discography whose flair endures the test of time, Massiande's path thrives with a true passion for House that's appealing to both casual listeners and the most loyal purists of the genre around the world.

The album builds on material from the 'Below The Line', 'Old Media New Society', and 'Engineered Morality' EPs which explored a fictional narrative in which a hypothetical timeline is corrupted by a climate-related disaster. The title of the album itself refers to an imagined surgical procedure where cognitive ability is augmented through transplant from one brain to another. As such, 'Caibu' invites the listener to forge their own ideas on the development of society in the context of crisis.

    1. A1. Spy of the Desert
    2. B1. Born Again
    3. B2. Before the 2nd Coming

R&S newcomer Karim Sahraoui delivers an EP of deep, emotive techno that draws on the rich legacy of Detroit while staying relevant for the modern era.

Sahraoui is a globetrotting seeker of musical truth spending time in Malaysia, Italy and Spain as well as his native France, he recorded in the early 2000s to some acclaim as Djinxx, releasing prolifically for Delsin, Cocoon, F-com Bedrock, and Ovum amongst others. In 2009 he took a couple of years out from the industry, travelling to Malaysia to find himself. In 2011 a chance meeting reconnected Sahraoui with Derrick May, who he originally met in the late 90s. May was reactivating Transmat and persuaded Karim to let him release his music, but on the condition it be under his own name. The resulting pair of ’Eternal Life’ EPs in 2014 and 2016 marked his rich return to form - glorious melodic, contemplative techno in the classic motor city mode.

HIs Plenitude EP for R&S builds on similar positive themes - from the percolating arpeggios and mystic melodies of ‘Spy Of The Desert’, to the anthemic jazzy techo paen of ‘Born Again’ or the aching symphonic build of ‘Before The 2nd Coming’ its clear that after decades in the business Sahraoui’s talent is only growing rather than diminishing.

"I wanted to give it more spirituality, musicality and roots with the choice of the sounds. Going back in the past and transcribe everything with visionary fusions," Sahraoui explains.

The EP opens with the title track, fronting a funk-laden bassline and percussive, driving drums. Tribalistic male and female chants break the track up, adding depth to the unfolding journey. Next up, Lower Level supplies a deeper trip. A tight, assertive drum track counterparts a short, wandering bassline to form a settled, rolling feel.

Italian artist Flashmob, real name Alessandro Magani, is a renowned producer and remixer, label owner and touring DJ. Since 2011 he’s released on the world’s biggest labels, such as Get Physical, Defected, Kompakt, Snatch!, to name a few, and now delivers his bespoke sound for Hot Creations.

    4. B2. Don't Understand (Ryan James Ford Hope Remix)

Jonah Sharp & DJ Spun pair up as The Loose Control Band to drop a punk-inspired single on Rekids with remixes from label founder Radio Slave and SHUT boss Ryan James Ford.

Having released a large body of work as Spacetime Continuum (Astralwerks) or alongside David Moufang as Reagenz (Workshop), not to mention significant collaborations with the likes of Terence Mckenna, Haruomi Hosono and Bill Laswell, Jonah Sharp is unquestionably a highly respected producer. His seminal
label Reflective played an important role in the experimental ambient and techno scene during the ‘90s, whilst as a remixer he’s worked with music by Nine Inch Nails, Meat Beat Manifesto and Matthew Herbert.

Meanwhile, Jason Drummond has long been a commanding force within New York’s electronic music scene, such as running his prestigious Warm Up Music series or his All Night Rong parties with regulars like DJ Harvey. He’s also been DJing and producing as DJ Spun for two decades, appearing on Golf Channel Recordings as well as his own illustrious imprint Rong Music, which used to release music collaboratively with DFA.

‘I Don’t Understand’ sees a raw and uncompromising side to both artists as they layer a cacophony of murky bass, twisted melodies and mind-bending bleeps whilst Drummond’s turbulent vocals bellow throughout the mix. Staying faithful to the original, Radio Slave’s remix incorporates a heady rhythm with its rolling beat as screeching effects join a moody bassline.

Moving into techno territory, Ryan James Ford’s ‘Akihabara’ remix features rattling percussion and crystalline synths whilst his ‘Hope’ remix is built on an intricate drum sequence as soaring pads and echoing keys contrast with the original’s piercing vocal.

    3. B1. PG1000

Following Lo Shea’s industrial ‘Iterations EP’, Dusky’s 17 Steps welcomes the mysterious Polymod to the label family with a three track EP of club tools that draw on classic acid house and techno influences.

Hooked with a vintage ’88 piano loop and tightly sprung bassline, opener ‘No Other’ has been ever present in Dusky’s sets since the autumn - already inspiring multiple posts in a certain well-known Facebook ID group, as well as causing one eager ID hunter to tweet Dusky with home played piano videos of the main loop.

For all its catchiness, though, it maintains an understated approach that plays on dynamics and contrast - a driving club tool.

Taking a darker route but maintaining the intensity, ‘TX’ goes for the jugular with a looping surge of acid and rolling electro rhythms.

Completing the trio is the spacious ‘PG1000’ that joins the dots between '90s ambient, proto-house and Detroit machine music at its most dreamy.

Clash Lion is a mix of three personalities; Shall Ocin, TERR and Daniel Watts. Three artists with different musical backgrounds merging forces to create a truly eclectic and open-minded label. After the success of their first release from Maetrik firmly putting this label in the spotlight, it was followed by releases from Shall Ocin and Daniel Watts. ANNA who started 2018 with the acclaimed ‘Hidden Beauties’ EP on Kompakt now comes back with a 3 track EP for Clash Lion.

Her debut on the label kicks off with ‘Suzi In Transe’, a roaring synth work drives this track into the deep and dark realms of techno, but with an acid element thrown in for good measure.

Ethereal yet brooding, ‘Impression’ is a track that grows and grows. It’s classical piano stab perfectly blends into the mix, keeping its dancefloor ready pace right to the end.

80’s flare, break beat focused rhythms and an explosive synth riff. ‘Into The Void’ is the most futuristic offbeat techno piece we have heard from ANNA, and makes for a standout new release with three varied and texturally interesting tracks.

In October 2017 Honey Dijon was commissioned to take part in the Smirnoff ‘We’re Open’ campaign, aiming to promote inclusive night time culture and celebrate nightlife's ability to transcend gender boundaries and prejudice. As well as appearing in the ‘We’re Open’ TV commercial, Honey was asked to record her take on the initiative’s ethos for creating positive change, making dance music culture a more open-minded and socially inclusive space. What resulted was a rework of ‘Queen of Disco’ Sylvester’s ‘Stars’ featuring vocals by singer-songwriter Sam Sparro, who she collaborated with previously on her album ‘The Best of Both Worlds’. Now being released on limited edition blue vinyl via Classic Music Company, with breathtaking artwork from assume vivid astro focus who also supplied cover artwork for the album, the entire proceeds from the release will be donated to LGBT Foundation.

Created with parts recorded especially for the ‘We’re Open’ advert, ‘Stars’ (Disco Version), produced with the help of Classic head Luke Solomon and studio partner Lance Desardi, pops Sylvester’s spangled party-starter directly into 2018. Previously made available as a free download to coincide with the launch of the campaign, the Cosmic Energy Dub, underlining Honey’s acidic but sweet production, is followed by two mixes by one of her favourite producers of the moment and fellow Chicagoan, Cratebug. His Nova ReMix references the classic disco elements of the original, while the Supernova ReMix - exclusive to vinyl - goes fully intergalactic with a glorious squelching extended mix. Paying lip service to the legacy of a truly gender-redefining figure whose music is nothing but inclusive and empowering, Honey Dijon and Classic prove the power of music to inspire positive change in the dance music communities with this ‘Stars’ release.

Real “House” Music created by the founder of House Music Frankie Knuckles for WBMX June 25, 1986. (A & B).

Back in August 2017, Jerome Derradji received a call by one of Chicago’s most renowned record dealer.
It went like this: “Hey Jerome, I’ve got all these reel to reel tapes of Chicago House stuff. You want to take a look?”
Less than 24 hours later, more than 160 reels were purchased and safely hauled back to the Still Music office and Jerome got to work.
In fact, these reels - that were lost for more than 20 years - contain some incredible stuff that we’ll be releasing in the years to come but right now it’s time to Jack!

Around 50 of these tapes are Dj Mixes that were broadcasted on WGCI and WBMX in the mid to late eighties mostly with the Hot Mix 5.

So Jerome decided to start a series of cassettes titled JACK to share the absolute greatness of these mixes (and to raise enough funds to finance the transfer and licensing of the more crazy stuff that’s in the stack of reels)

Here is our first series with mixes from Frankie Knuckles, Steve “Silk” Hurley, Chicago mystery - Devastating Daryl and a few “unknown” mixes that were too essential to skip.

These mixes were played on the radio only once and were lost until today. This series is an absolute window back to the heydays of Chicago House music.

All the mixes were professionally transferred and remastered to the best of our abilities.

After kicking off the year with releases by Wheelman and General Ludd, we’re very pleased to announce that Naum Gabo completes our recent trilogy of releases from Glasgow based artists.

Alongside Ivan Smagghe, it’s no secret that Optimo have been a huge influence around these parts and having released Ivan’s Smagghe & Cross project on Belters last year, it’s a huge honour to work with Naum Gabo - the production partnership of Jonnie Wilkes (JG Wikes of Optimo) and James Savage (Mastering Engineer for Optimo Music).

Fittingly enough, Naum Gabo played live at the first ever Optimo related parties we attended at the Sub Club back in 2005 and Jonnie’s influential and supportive presence has been felt over the years as we started to become more involved in the Glasgow scene and as the label developed.

So it didn’t require much thought to do this release before we had even heard these new Naum Gabo tracks…they are absolute slammers of the highest order! Really big release, bringing to our minds the likes of Errorsmith.

Belters is a new club-focussed label brought to you by Huntleys + Palmers.

MAGNETIK NORTH is ‘live drum electronics’. Drum performances are fed through processors, samplers and sequencers to produce layers of rhythmic patterns that interact with each other. Other instruments are melted into different textures so that only the harmonic content remains. This is a new project from Ian Tregoning, engineer and producer for artists as diverse as Yello and Fela Kuti.

Now working with Jaki Liebezeit, the legendary drummer from CAN, to add his endless evolving rhythms. Jaki’s in a world of his own as he balances technical brilliance with subtle restraint. Recording started in the Summer 2006 in an old jazz studio in the south of Köln. Jaki arrived with a minimal drum kit including customised cymbals, a snare and a huge Gretsch floor-tom from the CAN days. All of Jaki’s performances are ‘complete takes’ with no drop-ins, loops or edits.

The backing tracks for ‘evolver’ were recorded without using key changes. Each song features one key which is held continuously while other instruments and effects are blended with the key. Drums (also tuned to the same key) were added last which is another unusual technique. As Jaki says ‘they’re often overlooked as tuned instruments in their own right’. The finished results are a minimal blend of industrial and classical. Like listening to a ‘raga in an earthquake’.

LEE HARRIS (fromTALKTALK) djembe ^c hinesepercussion

    1. A Loleatta Holloway - Stand Up (Pangaea's Mix)

From deep within the UK underground special things can emanate without warning.
This is exactly what happened here, a special one-off white label remix of one of Disco's biggest stars by one of the founding members of possibly the most influential electronic music crews in the land? Yep. For the uninitiated Loleatta Holloway is part of dance music's DNA, one of the most recognisable voices in Disco. Her tones have graced numerous club classics, she's been sampled 1000's of times, her vocal fingerprints are all over classic House music and are instantly recognisable. Remixer Pangaea aka Kevin McAuley is one of the main members of the formidable Hessle Audio crew alongside Ben UFO and Ramadanman. Rising out of the post-dubstep terrain of modern day England McAuley is a truly open minded DJ and producer pushing sonic boundaries and him and his Hessle co-conspirators have long been garnering respect from all corners since their inception as a collective. 'Stand Up' is a truly potent combination of two very different talents, fusing Pangaea's sparse, stripped back, minimalistic approach and Holloway's roof-raising diva vocals with the end result being a futuristic club classic in the making that gives an understanding, respectful nod to what has come before while gazing forth into the unknown.

Originally released as a promo-only white label, this remix has been wreaking havoc on dancefloors over the course of the summer and has featured heavily in the Hessle Audio crew's DJ sets. Gaining rave reviews on sites such as RA and with people literally passing out with excitement over this very special remix / re-edit it felt only right to give it a reissue on the label that serves as Loleatta Holloway's spiritual home - Salsoul Records. The hype is real on this one, do not sleep!

A defining moment in dance music history was the day that Roy Davis Jr. teamed with vocalist and writer Peven Everett in 1997 to create this deep, ethereal, soul-music gem that helped launch an entire musical movement known affectionately as Speed Garage. The "Live Garage" mix is the most popular but the other mixes have grown in popularity over time.  It is hard to believe that this record is almost 20 years old yet it still sounds as fresh today as it did so long ago.  Truly a classic that deserves to be celebrated by a new generation of dance music lovers.
