A follow up to the first music Luca C and Sebi Brigante made together, DBL000 - Luca C & Brigante - Lucio, much before Double Drop existed, the edit with which they became lifetime accomplices, another tribute to the long lost Italian human that has filled the world with many of those apparently naive melodies that have unquestionable heart expanding super powers, especially when paired with longtime lyricist's talent in distilling love's biggest questions through the simple of emotions of mountain-shaking teenage? encounters. This one will certainly make humans fall in love at dusk and dawn for the next few years............or at least until they have the courage to mess with another one of Lucio's.

"This takes me back! 1991... Joe, Damo and I used to hit every Biology at the docks. We were young and skint, but somehow managed to always make it to the rave. We were so up for it! The vibes were sick… good music… best mates... and the ecstasy… mannn those little fuckers (Damo from Carlton north, if you ever listen to this on here, hit me up brother!). I’m a family man in my 40s now but this music takes me back to my 20s, I close my eyes and I can still feel the rush, the heat of everyone crammed into those warehouses and the huge, stupid grin on my face.”

Three years ago, a long-overdue and much-anticipated debut album from Let's Play House co-head Jacques Renault finally hit shelves, and now, the follow-up effort, the sophomore swing, arrives.

If Zentrum was a sprawling and aspirant full-length, BK Club Beats, Breaks & Versions is an exacting and focused rejoinder, a powerful, punchy, and succinct exposition of Renault's skills and fortes. It's a deep-dive into the movements that sucked him into club music and a celebration of the inspirations that fueled his ascendance to DJ and producer in his own right.

What we give you here is an album of originals that have been conceived, orchestrated, and stitched together to function as a classic Renault peak-hour set—classic house sounds sandwiched between hip-hop breaks and disco licks, all glued into place with his trademark full-bodied, colorful, swinging drums. The A-side has a daytime glimmer and glisten to it, a sunniness that imparts it with a distinct top-down-crisscross-through-the-city flavor. The flip is just as pumped and uptempo, but it has a rounder bottom and feels murkier, steamier, and, by extension, more late-night.

But the overarching achievement here is how Renault has crafted an album that's mood-agnostic; it's articulated with dancefloor language, but it's not beholden to the dancefloor. A satisfying, fulfilling journey that begins and ends with semicolons rather than exclamations or question marks. It takes off and descends determinedly and invites the option of there being a sequel, an epilogue, an encore, while not necessitating one. When it's all over, you'll ask yourself what's next—and then realize it's the A1.

    1. A1. I'm Ready To Give Up My Love (

Here's one for all the hardcore Disco and Soul lovers out there, one of the finest and rarest manifestations of the legendary writing, arranging and production team of Randy Muller and Jeff Lane (Skyy, BT Express, Brass Construction, Aquarian Dream, Spiders Webb and many more!). First appearing as a 'Columbia Records Disco Series' promo 12" in 1976 this is a wondrous example of that mid to late 70's uptempo Soul sound morphing into Disco, and boy are we glad it did! Drenched in pure Philly vibes 'I'm Ready To Give Up My Life' is a real beauty, clocking in at over 9 mins of pure dance-floor joy with soaring strings and a driving rhythm. Pure class all the way and one for the aficionados for sure. Beautiful Soul music that will certainly deliver the goods in the club indeed. As per the original 1976 promo release this 12" features the same program on both sides.

This underground Disco classic has been legally reissued by Above Board distribution in conjunction with the legal rights holders - Sony Music Entertainment. This high quality repress features original Columbia white label Disco 12" artwork and has been remastered from Sony's original sources by Optimum Mastering, Bristol UK.

    3. B1. Dimension (DJ Skull Remix)

Amsterdam based Luuk van Dijk is welcomed into the Hot Creations fold this July with his heavy-hitting Parallax E.P. Chicago production wizard DJ Skull is also on board to rework the B-side.

Title track Parallax is set to cause a serious stir at festivals and clubs alike this summer. The smattering of high-hats elevate the track as the space-like beeps and blips add another facet. On the flip, Dimension applies an ominous vocal stab as the bass rumbles — perfect for low ceiling basement raves. On the remix, DJ Skull adds a touch of Chicago class via some softer vocals, dubby chords and a pounding bass. At the tender age of 22, Luuk van Dijk has been signed to acclaimed labels such as VIVa Music, Roush, Food Music, Sanity and Lost Records. Championed by stalwarts such as Steve Lawler and Eats Everything, he has taken his sound to some of the world’s most prestigious events.

Ron Maney aka DJ Skull became known for being one of the first DJs to play the new sound coming out of Chicago, honing his craft at the infamous Music Box and Power Plant. Releasing records since the early 90s, he later launched his own labels Hypnotic Tones and Wax Candy Records. Recent releases have appeared on Chiwax, Domina Trxxx and Mentha Records.

    1. A1. Odessa Calling
    2. B1. Numbers Station

July sees Radio Slave’s Rekids invite Britain’s renowned Swayzak to the roster with a Cold War themed release entitled ‘Odessa Calling’ EP.

A name associated with quality, Swayzak’s ability to retain their signature sound whilst producing across various sub-genres has cemented them a solid reputation since their humble beginnings in the 90s. Their impressive back catalogue includes six studio albums and appearances on labels like K7, M_nus, Curle, Ellum and Swayzak’s own label 240 Volts, which was relaunched in 2017. Originally a duo comprised of David Brown and James Taylor, Brown has been helming the project solo since 2012. He now joins respected Berlin-based imprint Rekids with two inspired productions.

‘Odessa Calling’ is a mysterious track with hypnotic synths, mesmerising pads and enigmatic vocals that combine together to create a celestial aesthetic. On the flipside, ‘Numbers Station’ continues with the otherworldly feel employing shimmering percussion that wanders alongside a brooding bassline for a well refined finish to the package.

Infamous DJ & producer Maceo Plex aka Eric Estornel goes on with the second chapter of the Mutant Series. This new set of EPs is characterised by a “techno mutation” kind of sound, that will come out via his friend’s labels and his own during this year. ‘Mutant 2’ will kick off Ellum Black, a new branch of his initial imprint Ellum that focuses on the darker and more intellectual sound of techno.

The American artist offers two new cuts with this new release, the first one ‘Mutant Pulse’ is a collaboration with Dallas duo Paradigm Shift that brings a melancholic vibe through deep pads and vocals that are mixed with laid back broken beats and synth sparks. On the flip-side, ‘Mutant Radio’ appears like the straight-forward take of the EP building up synth chords and melodies for a trippy pick.

Lastly, “I Don’t Fkn Kno” slinks along in the timeless tradition of low-slung n’ swung house groovers. Welcome to the sound of Teakup.

A chance encounter at university during the Acid House summer of ’88 and subsequent bonding over Baby Ford’s “Oochy Koochy” established a life-long friendship between Leicester lads, Jimi O’Callaghan and Al Green. Inspired by the sounds of Detroit, early NY House like Murk and Masters at Work and the emerging UK sounds of LFO, Orbital and Aphex Twin, the pair began DJing and making music as The Wild Geese. Their first EP, “The Wild Geese EP”, was released in 1994 on their own Giddy Goose Recordings imprint. The guys pressed 500 copies and, with Jimi’s connections made interning with Pete Tong’s FFRR, sold copies direct to London shops. The record sported packaging designed to look like an American 12” and an accompanying press release attributed the EP to a fictitious DJ duo hailing from Wisconsin. Rave reviews followed and a distribution deal was struck with Vital UK, who produced and sold another 500 copies worldwide. Another EP followed a year later. Sadly, plans for a third EP on the label never materialized, but the pair remain close to this day. 24 years later we are honored to reintroduce this genre-defying, uniquely forward-thinking EP to today’s dance floors.

Acclaimed purveyors of magical (classic) World and Soulful grooves, Diephuis & Jephte Guillaume, release their colourful summer Afro jam, 'Baba M'fa Njika' - featuring the electrifying voice of Cameroon’s songbird, Barbara Gwanmesia. As you’d come to expect from this duo, 'Baba M'fa Njika’ is a musical feast of earthy Afro beats, hypnotic synths, infectious sax and rhythmic vocal chants, which, pirouetting around Barbara’s magnetic croon, throbs with the love, hope and gratitude that the lyrics exude. There could be no better expression of positive power than that unleashed on this gem release from the prestigious Shelter Records.

Diephuis and Jephte Guillaume have both individually brought authentic global sounds to dance floors, the world over - each owning and dominating his turf in extraordinary ways. In 2013, the acclaimed producers joined forces for the first time to produce ‘A Journey To Rotterdam’ that was later released that same year on Joe Claussell's Sacred Rhythm label.

The Netherlands born Diephuis has produced and remixed many key players on the scene - from Dj Angelo to Ursula Rucker, along with Eastar, Jocelyn Brown, Peven Everett, Stephanie Cooke, Kenny Bobien and Marc Evans - just to name a few. Some of his productions are remixed by the likes of the talented Monoo. His production “Diephuis - Crossing Borders” was the first remix that the Kings of House team collaborated on together. Many important DJ’s in the scene like Black Coffee, Louie Vega, Tony Humphries, Spen, Dixon, Hyenah, Marley Marl, Cajmere and others have played his tracks. His work has appeared on labels such as King St, Nulu Records, Quantize, UnQuantize and many more.

New York resident and Haiti native Jephte Guillaume’s musical resume includes works with an impressive array of stars, including Wyclef Jean, Groove Theory/Amel Larrieux, Destiny’s Child, Jermaine Jackson, Busta Rhymes’ band, and literally, a plethora of others. His own productions, which carry rich Latin and Afro flavours, have earned him much respect on the global underground scene. They include none other than the timeless 'Onè Respè’, 'The Prayer', and ‘Kanpé’. His album 'Voyage Of Dreams”, which appeared on labels such as Spiritual Life, King St, Ibadan, Nite Grooves, and Tet Kale - among others, elevated this Haitian born virtuose to the heights of the world's musical greats. Now, along with Diephuis and Barbara Gwanmesia, the great Jephte Guillaume gives you, ‘Baba M'fa Njika’.

    1. A Licky - African Rock (Club 12 Mix)
    2. B Dream Lovers - African Rock

Harlem's legendary Disco label Queen Constance has long been a cult favourite among fans of underground dance music for decades.

One of many labels operating under the equally legendary P&P family of imprints Queen Constance was operated by one Peter Brown, a truly colossal figure in NYC's music scene, it's catalogue still fascinates music lovers to this day. Covering a wide range of styles including Gospel, early Rap and Disco the label's output continually finds it way into the playlists of respected DJ's and selectors across the globe. Licky & The Dream Lovers' massive afro-disco groove 'African Rock' is the next in a fully licensed series of Queen Constance rarities to be repressed.

Licky seems to be yet another studio group put together by Peter Brown in order to explore different sounds and styles. This raucous piece of uptempo, blazing Disco really does the business in the dance, a truly immense club record, which is not surprising considering Brown is at the helm. Ridiculous Funk on this one. Across 2 sides we are treated to 2 slightly different versions of the cut, both equally as good, you could literally put the needle on the record, let it spin and watch it do damage. This one is an essential, a truly sought after record that commands extremely high prices on the used market when it shows up, but rarity aside, it is an absolute bomb and deserves to be in any self-respecting Disco jocks bag of tricks.

This is a 100% legit reissue, made in conjunction with Above Board distribution and the Demon Music group, lovingly remastered with love by Optimum Mastering, Bristol UK.

Adding a percussive and experimental edge to the current class of post-dubstep pioneers, Mount Kimbie, the duo of Dominic Maker and Kai Campos – have just released their highly anticipated debut album "Crooks & Lovers" on Scuba’s Hotflush label.

Mount Kimbie’s first two EPs – "Maybes" and "Sketch On Glass" – seemed like explorations of spaces so private that all within earshot were instantly turned into voyeurs. The experience was less like listening to music and more like eavesdropping on the machinations of a lone mind – albeit a lone mind surrounded by and retreating from millions of other minds. Difficult to categorise, the lush EPs caused a commotion when released last year with "Sketch On Glass" recently undergoing reworks from the likes of Faulty DL, SCB (Scuba’s darker techno alias) and their sometime collaborator James Blake.

With their own remixes (Foals and The xx) becoming hot property, Mount Kimbie have been a core part of the growing scene in London often associated with labels like Hyperdub and Hessle Audio. Dom and Kai met whilst at Southbank University, pushed together in a student halls that was previously a mental asylum – where the ceilings were still ridiculously high to stop patients hanging themselves: “a cold, joyless, concrete building – the sort of building where you’d drop a pen and the sound would just go on and on in an echo.”

Armed with found sound snips and a siege mentality, Kai and Dom set about turning London’s ambience into rhythm, its chaos into coherence. Traces of influence remain – the hard-earned spaces of Burial and The Bug vie with the berserk melodrama of Xiu Xiu and Grouper’s sad-eyed glow, D’Angelo’s pervert soul gets cleansed in the intimacy of Phil Elvrum’s Microphones, Angelo Badalamenti’s swollen ‘Twin Peaks’ atmospheres find a cradle in Madlib’s lax lope. The band’s sound and response to the dubstep moment is very much their own. Sceneless and untethered from etiquette and genre codes, "Crooks & Lovers" floats through dubstep and hip-hop, jazz, techno and ambient, post-rock, UK garage and film scores to startling effect.

Future Disco, pioneers in bringing 21st century disco to the dancefloors, returns with its highly anticipated latest edition, A Disco Fantasy, on 27th April.

Inspired by the unparalleled flamboyant expressionism that the original Disco era captured so perfectly, A Disco Fantasy, takes listeners on a dazzling journey of House and Disco with exclusive cuts from club veter-ans Louie Vega and Greg Wilson, as well as exclusive edits from Future Disco themselves. The album also showcases some of the genre’s best new talent with Young Marco, Johannes Albert, Lovers and COEO all featuring across the uniquely crafted seventeen track mix.

A Disco Fantasy delivers the soundtrack that makes clubbers’ dreams a reality. Picture scenes of the al-most mythical Studio 54 where club-goers lost themselves in the music, the movement, the lights and the moment. Horses roamed, sexual expression was free and celebrities danced amongst a crowd that was dressed for the catwalk. Disco was always about fantasy and still is today. Future Disco’s - A Disco Fantasy captures this uninhibited spirit that was so electrifying and continues to be to this day.

Kraak & Smaak - Keep It Together, kicks off the album with an uplifting, pacey track that delivers a classic disco synth and bassline to match. Amp Fiddler - Steppin’ (Future Disco Piano Edit) ramps up the mix with a classic 90’s piano, along with the euphoric Sylvester - Dance (Disco Heat) (Louie Vega Re-touch Edit) and pumping Delphi - Blue Tuesday. Get lost in the moment with Ten Ven - Turn It Up and experience those sun rise spine tingles with Pale Blue - You Stopped Dying.

As a globally recognised bastion of quality with over twenty successful albums, Ibiza residencies and in ex-cess of 5 million digital streams, Future Disco continues to expertly curate fresh House and Disco that’s relevant for today’s music lovers. And with Disco and Soulful House now experiencing a somewhat main-stream renaissance, club-goers are demanding a more glamourous and flamboyant experience to the dark warehouse raves of late.

Sean Brosnan, compiler and Future Disco DJ, explains, “Future Disco has always been at the forefront of the modern Disco scene and we like to think we’ve played a significant role in the genre’s revival over the past 10 years. The trend has shifted from a darker, more lonesome dance floor experience to a more cele-bratory vibe with the theatre returning to our dancefloors. We wanted to encapsulate this in our latest cura-tion and fire up that musical fantasy clubbers are craving again.”

Welcome to the Sound Of Love International 001 complied by Gatto Fritto. Love International is a festival held in Tisno, Croatia now moving into its third season. Held to a soundtrack of the very best of underground dance music and running 24 hours a day - from noon to night and back through again - full circle. This series, masterminded with London’s Balearic culture website, Test Pressing, is curated by some of our favourite artists and DJs. A place for them to choose 12 records close to their heart, and with ties to the festival, that they love and what to share with the world. So to the first compiler - Gatto Fritto a.k.a Ben Williams.

A lifetime working in the better record shops of London and Berlin and DJing in Europe’s finest underground clubs, Ben is getting the props he deserves. Put into context, although not in a box, on line-ups curated by Call Super, Ben UFO and Palms Trax the word is spreading. It’s partially testament to the increased open mindedness of younger big room crowds but far more to Gatto’s ability as a DJ and a knack for finding an undiscovered mix of music that fits.

Having previously made freaky Disco mutations for Dissident Records, then an album of Kosmiche inspired sounds for International Feel, it’s proving to be something of an advantage not being easily hamstrung by genre.

So what about the music here? It’s a collection of tracks that Ben played across his last two sets at Love International’s open air club Barbarellas. There’s a dubby wildness in the stereo field that sounded good on the soundsystem. The clever part is how well suited these sounds are to the balmy outdoor vibe and where and when this music comes from. You can’t copyright these emotions, it would seem and no-one told them in Cologne, Sheffield, Jamaica that the music they were producing would soundtrack a blinky-eyed sunrise in Croatia.

So we get Mad Professor’s son, Joe Ariwa’s, demented Gabber tempo stepper played on 33. Which is about as House as Reggae is ever going to be. A crash course in Skwee’s year long diversion into afrobeat turned out the cream of the crop in Anaalivaihe’s 10.11.2012 or Mi Ami’s outlier release on Pure Silk that sounds like, in Ben’s words, “Francois K being forced to make a record with a Juno 60”. Or crazy vari-speed tape dubbing from Sonny Okosun in the dub version of ‘Highlife’ – the kind of record that Ben loves, where the end result is a happy accident. The original intention of the maker some distance from the reasons for our enjoyment.

Musically adventurous, disparate yet harmonious and dance floor friendly. Clever trick, clever bloke. Ladies and gentlemen this is the sound of Love International.

    A1 - Derrick Harriott - Dub Whip
    A2 - Anaalivaihe - 10_11_2012

An essential 2 x 12" overview of some of the legendary Frankie Knuckles TRAX classics.

What else needs to be said? One of the godfathers of our scene, a true classic himself, Frankie behind the wheels or behind the boards was simply top shelf all the way down the line. A real original whose influence and touch can still be felt today. His releases on TRAX at the time were the hottest things ever and they still resonate on the dancefloor today with equal measure. Featured here are some of the best tracks fusing Frankie's love of Disco, Euro-pop, Italo and more produced in his initial mid to late 80's golden period. Cuts like 'Baby wants to ride', 'Bad boy' and more, featuring the unmistakable vocal talents of the equally legendary Jamie Principle. It's all here. The perfect starting point for those who have recently discovered the man and his body of work, or equally as stimulating for those who wish to have some classics in their collection. Each track is a classic, each one stands up today and effortlessly rocks the club. Remastered in conjunction with TRAX, repressed from the finest audio sources available. Often imitated, never replicated!

Melbourne’s Superconscious Records has become a source for straight-up, surefire club records. A string of 12”s from András, Francis Inferno Orchestra, Louis CL and more have presented a globally focused sound from a humble stable, grown out of Australia’s greatest city.

International nomad and the imprint’s co-founder Fantastic Man follows suit with the label’s sixth record Rhythm Algorithm. A hypnotic trio of mind bending explorations, all with a firm retrospective nod to the inner-city sounds that club music is built on.
