    4. AA2. Kouka (Warehouse Basement Mix)

Following a pair of sensational releases on the label this summer, Defected Records are proud to present this special 12” delivery from Darius Syrossian. Kicking off the A-Side with his stellar collab with Jamie Jones, ‘Rushing’ has deep tribal drums, a jacked-up beat and the Strictly Rhythm vocal sample, making a perfect amalgamation of Jamie Jones and Darius Syrossian’s styles. Their impressive inaugural release as a pair has already been turning heads on the White Isle and beyond. The A-Side also features a vinyl exclusive with the Afterparty Basement Mix, stripped back and with atmospheric keys that alter its sound. On the flip is Darius’ latest single on Defected, opening with ‘Come On Come On’, where he delivers a dose of upbeat driving house, a rubbery bouncing bassline and a chopped-up version of the vocal sample that features in both tracks on the single. Rounding off the release is another vinyl exclusive, with the Warehouse Techno Dub Mix of ‘Kouka’, a heavy-hitting dose of main room techno set to get pulses racing.

    1. A. Bappi
    2. B. Bappi (Warehouse Mix)

Hot Creations label boss Jamie Jones joins forces with Cuttin’ Headz curators The Martinez Brothers for the first time to present the anthemic Bappi, an unmistakable powerhouse of a track that has been setting dancefloors alight all summer at their respective DC10 Ibiza residencies.

The A side features title track Bappi, a trademark bassline opens the record, developing with playful strings and sirens before distinctive Indian vocals are teased in, shifting the energy as it unfurls into a big-room Hot Creations hit. On the B side, Bappi (Warehouse Mix) magnifies the groove, as head nodding kicks combine with darker synths, creating an acid-tinged, smoky rework of the original.

Spanning the last decade, world renowned DJ and producer Jamie Jones has pioneered his own definitive sound. His global event series Paradise is now in its eight season at the magical Ibiza home of DC10, whilst also landing in cities like Miami, New York, LA, Moscow and Toronto. As it nears 150 releases, helping to shape the careers of Patrick Topping, Detlef and Richy Ahmed in the process, Jones and his label continue to cement a place in dance music history. House favourites The Martinez Brothers are near completion of another stacked summer schedule that has seen them throw their Cuttin’ Headz parties on the White Isle for the first time, as well as playing at Circoloco, Paradise and Music On. Firmly established as one of the biggest names in the industry, releasing their own productions and that of other big hitters like DJ Sneak, Loco Dice and Guti on their Cuttin’ Headz label, they have also recently mixed the latest edition of the Fabric presents series.

    3. B2. Basic Truth

Ever-impressing Ukrainian talent iO (Mulen) makes his debut appearance on Infuse this October as he delivers his slick three-track ‘Basic Truth’ EP.

A rising name within the scene for a number of years, Kiev-based DJ and producer iO (Mulen) has been consistently delivering and crafting a stream of quality cuts from right across the house spectrum since making his debut back in 2009, releasing stand out material to date via the likes of Apollonia, Rawax, One Records and most notably via his own revered and heavily championed Mulen Records imprint. Having continued his prolific output through into 2019, here we see a debut on FUSE sister imprint Infuse with three impressive cuts forming his ‘Basic Truth’ EP this October.

‘Double Cable’ opens the package as iO introduces a bubbling low-slung groove, driving low-end tones and flickering hats, before weaving into ‘Camp Trip’ which quickly introduces trademark funk-heavy bass grooves amongst deep chords and sci-fi atmospherics. Last up, title cut ‘Basic Truth’ closes the flip side as stripped back organic percussion grooves meet floating lead synths and hazy pads to round out proceedings in classy fashion.

Following the huge success of the Somi Afrikan Lady 12inch SRM 246 that was released way back in 2008. Since that time there’s been a huge demand for Sacred Rhythm to release the alternative mixes that Joaquin Joe Claussell and an exclusive few of his DJ Prominent DJ friends have been championing. Giving in to the pressure, we decided to press the unreleased mixes on 7” Vinyl.

The A Side features the same intensity that is similar to how it is on the previously 12Inch release, but with its own unique vibe. While the B side offers a completely different approach hence leaning more towards the side of, what Joaquin like to call,” a freaky dub exploration of rhythm and drums.” The 7” will be pressed on Special Colored Vinyl.
All in all, this is a dope seven inch of Afrocentric grooves and Dope musicianship that, no less than its predecessor, aims to continue rocking the dance floor.

    2. B. Detune

Building on the success of Vol 1, Detroit pioneers Octave One now serve up Locus of Control Volume 2, continuing their journey of exploration of power or powerlessness over what moves one’s world.

This EP comes after a busy series of shows for the most famous live act in all of techno, with them recently having played everywhere from Piknic Électronik Montréal to Movement to Dimensions Festival and many more. The show is an all new audio-visual experience for 2019 and continues to keep them at the forefront of the scene despite more than 30 years of experience. Locus of Control Part 2 follows a remix of Giorgia Angiuli and lands on their own 430 West label once more.

This EP series takes its name from a psychological concept that refers to how strongly
people believe they have control over the situations and experiences that affect their lives. Part 1 showcased euphoric piano stabs and uplifting drum lines, and Part 2 explores more propulsive techno.

Up first, ‘Afrotech’ is a seven minute techno adventure. It’s built on sleek, crisp drums with twisted synths writhing about up top. The devil is in the detail and the way the synths are subtly tweaked throughout to make for a most dynamic journey once more from these brilliant brothers.

The excellent ‘Detune’ is a futuristic track with layers of shiny metallic drums and taught synth riffs that make for a tense and thrilling ride. Big drums power things along and the whole thing is the sort of sensory overload that will blow up even the biggest warehouse parties and festival stages.

These are two more powerful tracks from the ever essential Octave One.

    4. B2. La Floria

Belgian artist Philippe Petit joins Radio Slave’s imprint with four analogue techno cuts on his Rekids debut.

The Chamonix based DJ and producer Philippe Petit is widely respected amongst the techno community for his plethora of rumbling releases such as ‘Venus’ on EarToGround and ‘Scrape’ on his own imprint Decision Making Theory as well as releasing on Involve and Figure SPC to name a few. With a wealth of experience playing at the likes of Tresor, Suicide Circus, La Graviere, Batofar, Weetamix, Corsica Studios, and Berghain, the sophisticated production he showcases
was a natural fit for the Rekids’ Special Projects series.

‘Anger’ rolls in with force and bumping sub frequencies, rattling percussion and jarring keys, then ‘Crystal Clear’ keeps things murky with evolving pads, fleeting highs and rolling low-end. On the flip, ‘When We Meet’ jumps in with climbing stabs, tight hi-hats and galloping kicks, when finally, ‘La Floria’ cuts through with chopped highs, washing chords, snappy cymbals and dreamy harp-esque patterns.

Kanot is Jesper Jarold and Anton Kolbe. With their wide open ears and sharp sense of adaptation they have been involved in some of the last year’s most interesting Swedish musical acts - Fontän, Tross, Uran Gbg, Ultra Satan among others. With the help of Lindha Kallerdahl’s expressive vocals, Jarold and Kolbe weave an eclectic yet durable sonic textile. Call it music for psychadelic hiking, primitive dance beats or speculative folk music - most of all, it is unrestrained music, for the smartest and the dumbest kid in the classroom.

In the dense, and at the same time airy production, some drums anchor themselves steadily into the ground while others lash out like reverberating rhythmic gunshots. The tones from Jesper’s guitar and fretless bass float like leaves on the Drangme Chhu River, at times almost drowning in effects only to resurface in surprising and skillfully chiseled melodies that could play forever.

This Höga Nord Rekords 7” is just a teaser of an exciting collaboration of which we have yet only seen the opening credits!

Unknown Truths is the debut album from Tony Beardsley (aka Dark Strands). What can be said about this album.. for one, it is a body of work that has been crafted as a labour of love with sources of inspiration taken from the late 80's underground warehouse parties and clubs where no one speed or style of music was played.. curve balls as they say, was a good thing. Ambitious maybe.. but the only aim of the album was to actually not to have one. No one genre or concept can be applied, but this is not by design, purely accidental as the music weaves between various electronic strands and rhythm forms. Its fair to say that his music has not been compromised to follow latest trends or fashion. It is for everyone, but no one. It's only true purpose is to liberate senses and provide a lasting sonic soundtrack to the modern age.

Rickard Jäverling, born and raised in Borlänge, Sweden, and now living and working in Stockholm is a wayward and productive musician. Besides releasing material under his own name, Jäverling is/has been part of constellations such as Dödens Dal, Liljor and Jäverling <> von Euler. Album 3, released on Höga Nord Rekords is his third solo album.

Album 3 breathes psychedelia, dub, Swedish folk, “progg” and continental vintage electronic music. The songs on this album are in a way like a compilation of short stories rather than chapters in a novel. The common factor in this album is Jäverlings’ exquisitely worked out melodies and the warm, round production but the songs can, due to the rich storytelling qualities of each one of them, almost be regarded as small albums of their own!

The music made by Richard Jäverling is an embrace, a relative with a house by the Swedish west coast or a day off, midweek in April. This album is inviting and calming but also as solid and mighty as a Dalecarlian beech tree.

Rooted in Swedish psychedelic folk music, Hanna Östergren (Hills, Träd Gräs och Stenar) takes a creative new grip on the genre. Under the name of Laughing Eye, Östergren creates spiritual Nordic raga, or nature music that stems back to prehistoric ages. Höga Nord Rekords now releases her debut album.

Laughing Eye is more than just music, this is a distillate of ancient superstition, fear, euphoria and nature romanticism. The sound edges on the upper tree line and in the closing track, “Agnetero / huset” Östergren takes a step off the mountain top, into space where the flute melodies float weightless to the outer rim of our solar system.

Laughing Eye is deep, warm and embracing sounds for cold urbanized souls, a buzz or a murmur from the far past, translated to music we can interpret.

When you put on the first track on the album ”Antisocial Background Music 2017 - 2019” by Mythologen your likely to think: “this is THAT kind of an album”, and fell happy with that. But Mythologen aka Alexander Palmestål is not “THAT” kind of an artist and this album reflects his broad musical background. It spans from Japan to USA, from the 70s to the 00s and from cold concrete floors to fluffy cotton clouds. Palmestål, with a background in bands such as Pistol Disco and Iberia now releases his second full-length album on Höga Nord Rekords

The album is a play with emotions and genres, with unexpected meetings between major and minor keys and is a collection of tracks where Jungle, Electro, House, Synth and Big Beat are deconstructed and put together as relevant contemporary dance music. The production on “Antisocial Background” sometimes sound like a more electronic version of Boredoms but most of the time it puts the listener on the British isles and in the 90’s. Palmestål pays respect to his masters but he is not in any way too careful with their legacy and let, just as on his debut album, influences from the 1970’s and 80’s Nigeria and Soweto.

Finnish band Jesse makes unsentimental and innovative music. What you hear on “Fluids”, released as a 12” picture disc on Höga Nord Rekords, is the sounds of four creative brains’ journey into the music universe of the future. Their music is influenced by earth and space – Jesse’s astral and cosmic disco is prospective, totally boundless, and vibrant of life and blood. The production sounds luxurious and helps the psychedelic qualities to shine through the sound.

Jesse, who with their first releases some ten years ago played fast and arrogant synth based music, now picks up influences from afro beat, funk and ambient but they’ve kept the electronic core of their sound – simple chord structures rest upon cool synthesized waves of sound, like a glider carried upwards on the thermals between the summits of the Andes. Soft, pliable and mighty!

Jesses music is dreamy but not unworldly and one thing that makes them special is their ability to place the listener on the edge of their safety zone. There, in the frontier, they explore the possibilities of cross over music.

AA.All Crew - This track was made back in 1992 by Noise Factory and a game changer as it had a dominant reggae sample in the intro and mergers into the hardcore elements of that time. The term 'all junglists massive' can be heard and strong jungle breaks holding they own. This was when the musik was evolving into what was to be jungle.

AAA.Set Me Free Remix - This track by Noise Factory made in 1992 and a remix of the original shows their versatility of moving hardcore into a new genre that was becoming so dominate. The stronger reggae samples speeded up and the ability to switch up the drum patterns and still have that hardcore feel was helping to push the scene and promote these jungle breaks coming through.

Ground is an Osaka native, but his soul is truly that of a nomad, traversing the planet, befriending kindred spirits found in humans, animals and plants. He is exceptionally receptive to the beauty in everything that surrounds him—the incidental music of a city street, the orchestral chaos of a scrambling radio, the syncopated grace of migrating birds, the simplicity of an isolated hand clap—and as his roadmap continuously unfolds, he accumulates a vast catalogue of visceral tools to musically recount his experiences. 'Sunizm' is a cross section of the artist’s process—an array of complex microcosms overlapping to comprise a thematic whole—gathering field recordings, found instruments, jagged electronics, synthesized chanting, and weaving all into a dense narrative that appears obsessively constructed yet divinely improvised. 'Follow Me', the second of two singles surrounding the album, is complimented with a pseudo drum’n’bass treatment by enigmatic Greek artist Jay Glass Dubs, as well as a massively triumphant b-side entitled 'Ozone House', which is exclusive to this single release. Attention all humans, animals and plants, Ground and the ESP Institute present, 'Sunizm'.

With the first release in this series occupying #1 status for 6 weeks last summer, Renaissance are back with the second instalment of their 25th Anniversary ‘The Remix Collection” project. For the follow-up to Solomun’s immense reworking of Age Of Love, Renaissance have bagged more Techno royalty in the shape of Italian duo Tale Of Us, to take on the huge task of remixing another iconic 90’s classic.

The track in question is the legendary ‘Café Del Mar’ by the 90’s trance project, Energy 52. Much alike the previous remix by Solomun, it seems Tale Of Us also have their work cut out for them, as this track has had no shortage of remixes over the years. However, the popularity of ‘Café Del Mar’ is not simply reflected through its remix roster. Named after the iconic bar at the heart of the Ibiza clubbing scene, it was the soundtrack to the rave-culture movie, ‘Human Traffic’ in 1999. In addition to this ‘Café Del Mar’ later went on to be voted #1 in MixMag’s 2001 “500 Best Tracks Ever” list.

With this second remix, Tale of Us take the classic elements that made Café Del Mar such a huge track in the 90’s, bringing them into the present-day with big licks of bass and a huge crescendo. Carrying forward the focus of the series, this remix refreshes the iconic track for a new generation of listeners. Undoubtedly, as with the original, it is sure to be the soundtrack of Ibiza this summer.

“I’ve got these kids who can talk real fast,” was how record producer Sylvia Robinson described the Sugarhill Gang back in 1979, before their biggest hit ‘Rapper’s Delight’ was recorded. Fast forward forty years, and the song transcends genres, tastes and generations. Perhaps this is why as ‘Fever’ comes through the speakers there is a warm feeling of familiarity that comes with it. The exceptional US talent doesn’t end with Sugarhill Gang, as Qwestlife also enlist the help of Grammy award-winning vocalist Siedah Garrett and Furious Five members GrandMaster Melle Mel and Scorpio to bring together disco, hip-hop and soul on their latest output. Capturing the energy of a hot and heady dancefloor, ‘Fever’ makes a perfect follow-up to Qwestlife’s previous Glitterbox releases, as the duo continue their tradition of crafting great dance records with traditional analogue techniques. A funk-laden cut with an unwavering groove, the original version is joined by disco edit royalty KON’s remix on this 12”, silky-smooth and more instrumentally led, the Stateside producer’s mix is destined to blissfully float across the dancefloor. KON’s Reprise also features, providing an essential DJ tool.
