Following up on last fall’s well received stamped testpress vinyl only release of “Everywhere You Look” by A Separate Reality (ASR), the Our Starry Universe label launches for reals (on date) with the ASR debut maxi-ep, “Heuristic Programs For Cognitive Centering.”

ASR is the collaborative vision of veteran NYC producers Nick Chacona (2020VISION/HECTOWORKS/MOODMUSIC) & Tim Wagner (Amy Douglas, Sunrise Hwy, 33Hz).

Wagner admits “The title of the EP might be slightly tongue in cheek, but it’s also on the money. This is a record about the meeting of technology and spirituality. A meeting where you don’t know what will happen - only the possibilities.”

The tracks on this latest release present a 35 minute journey into a world where psych-tinged Cosmic flirts with Balearic chug while downing Jazz laced with dub.

“It’s like the sound track to the surf movie constantly playing in my mind,” Adds Chacona.

Chris Stussy broke through in double quick time with some head turning house tracks. But what is important is that he has continued to back up that early promise years later with this EP on Moscow. He is now very much a key part of the underground with a sound that is all his own and has taken him to essential labels like Djebali, Rutilance, Eastenderz, Meta and, of course, PIV.

He now makes his debut on Archie Hamilton’s Moscow records, and delivers 3 of his finest tracks to date. The EP kicks things off with ‘Wake Ning’, a deep, groovy track with a timeless, summertime feel. The B side boasts another 2 high quality tracks, Nunchi with a slightly tougher and Sonaris tying off the record perfectly in a deeper style. 3 classically infectious tracks from the Dutchman.

Planetary Notions boss Joe Rolét debuts on Infuse to open April with his ‘Maximum Width’ EP, backed by a remix from Rich NxT.

A rising name within his home city of London, Joe Rolét is a DJ and producer whose passion for subbed out club music with a cosmic twist has seen him become one of the scenes hotly tipped talents – a sound that’s also reflected in full via his bubbling label, Planetary Notions. Releasing music from artists such as Per Hammar, Lopaski, stevn.aint.leavn and Desert Sound Colony whilst welcoming the likes of Vlad Caia and more to join as guests on the imprint’s Rinse FM show, 2020 now sees Rolét follow up releases via Beeyou, Courtesy Of Balance and his own Planetary Notions imprint as he makes a debut label appearance on Infuse with ‘Maximum Width’ EP this April, accompanied by a remix of the title cut provided from FUSE resident Rich NxT.

Lead cut ‘Maximum Width’ sees Rolét introduce his blend of slinking, reduced grooves atop of bumping low-ends whilst working an infectious vocal throughout, whilst ‘Rounding’ sees warped synths, off-kilter melodies and further tripped out vocal snippets come to the fore. On the flip, FUSE favourite Rich NxT puts his stamp on the title track in impressive fashion as he raises the tempo and introduces sizzling bass stabs and rolling hats, before rounding out proceedings with the hypnotic ‘Amber Road’ – a paired back cut that harnesses soaring sci-fi leads and wriggling percussion arrangements to great effect to shape up an impressive debut offering.

Back with his third EP for Dave Harvey’s forward thinking Futureboogie label, Kiwi serves up three pulsating jams on ‘Charlie’s New Vision’, backed with a remix from Johnny Aux.
Drawing upon his many influences across the house/disco/funk spectrum, South London based Kiwi has been illuminating the more discerning dancefloors of late with a strong of releases for Cin Cin, Needwant and his own new label venture, Crossbreed.
A low-slung groove is explored on ‘Charlie’s New Vision’, incorporating tripped out film dialogue, bleeps and dubby tones, and a serpentine bass riff, all forging an off kilter yet infectious & hedonistic chugger. Johnny Aux follows up recent appearances on Man Power’s Me Me Me, Party Central, and Multi Culti with his own take on the lead track. Churning over a bleepy and epically transcendental remix of the highest order, this is the stuff of sunrises and enlightening moments!
The sprightly ‘Ghiaccio’ draws together a kaleidoscopic array of opulent synth melodies with an compelling rhythm, whilst ‘Italian Heat’ doffs its cap heartily to the Italo disco choons of yore that always strikes a potent chord to this day.

Another slice of essential Knuckles / Principle magic, here the duo's love of Italo and Euro pop records seems to collide with Chicago's darkened dance-floors and raw drum machines. Perfectly sleazy and insanely danceable, Jamie Principles voice was made for Frankie Knuckles pristine productions and their unique styles compliment each other endlessly,

Both tracks featured on this 12" take us into the subterranean night life of Frankie and Jamie's world, a world of yearning, heart-break, love and acceptance. A huge pairing of tracks on their initial release and still to this day some 25+ years later, "It's A Cold World / Bad Boy" was a total game changer, almost verging on pop but too "outsider" to gain the mainstream attention it so deserved, the record stands today as a true classic. Truly ahead of it's time.

Well. Where do we start with 'Deep Inside'? Originally released in the golden NYC House era of 1993, this 5 tracker literally smashed everything in sight. And still does now! The epitome of an evergreen, all-time classic release. Masters At Work Louie Vega and Kenny Dope were on a major roll in this era, producing, remixing, dj-ing and everything in-between, these guys put in ridiculous work. They are joined on this EP by a roll-call of names and collaborators, Erick Morillo engineering the title track? Check. Maurice Joshua on co-production duties? You got it. Vocals by Ms. Barbara tucker? They're there. Killer, rock hard drums? Stacks of Soul? Masterfully chopped up Disco samples? All present. Serious stuff. Sometimes a record just manages to capture and distill the true essence of what this is all about and 'Deep Inside' is one such record, it bears all the hallmarks of golden era MAW, all the signposts of what was happening in NYC's clubs in the early to mid 90's were there within it's grooves. You know a record is good when it's still being, quite literally, hammered nearly 25 years later! Now, remastered, and reissued with the full involvement of Strictly Rhythm this seminal piece of NYC House history is made available again with all original, full sleeve artwork intact as per the 1993 original. This one's a straight up essential for any self-respecting dance aficionado. You know what to do!

The first release on Optimo Music founder JD Twitch’s new compilation-focused label Cease & Desist will be a collection of pioneering turn-of-the-90s British “Bleep & Bass” techno tracks curated by author and music journalist Matt Anniss.

Join The Future: UK Bleep & Bass 1988-91 is a partner product to Anniss’s critically acclaimed book on the foundations of British dance music’s ongoing love affair with sub-bass, Join The Future: Bleep Techno and the Birth of British Bass Music. The book, which was published by Velocity Press in December and features a foreword by JD Twitch, documents in vivid detail the previously untold story of the Yorkshire-pioneered style and the impact it had on the development of UK dance music.

The compilation is the first to focus on Bleep & Bass since the sound’s heyday in the late 1980s and early ’90s. It features a mix of historic cuts, period classics, overlooked gems and unreleased material. It was mastered for release by Warp Records co-founder and Forgemasters member Rob Gordon, a producer, remixer and studio engineer who arguably did more than anyone else to define the sub-heavy sound of the style.

Gordon also contributed a previously unheard version of Alfanso’s “Dub Feels Nice”, a near mythical track he produced in 1991 that has never received a proper commercial release. The cut has been a secret weapon for a handful of Sheffield DJs for almost 30 years, most notably Gordon’s fellow Forgemasters member Winston Hazel. Fittingly, the compilation also includes the original unreleased instrumental version of Tuff Little Unit’s Steel City classic “Join The Future”.

Many of the other tracks on the compilation are rare, hard to find or have not been issued on vinyl or digital since their initial release. It opens with Unique 3 and the Mad Musician’s “Only The Beginning” – the 1988 A-side of the first ever Bleep record – and also includes tracks and remixes from fellow scene pioneers Ital Rockers (an early alias of dub hero Iration Steppas), Nightmares on Wax, Cabaret Voltaire and DJ Martin and DJ Homes, the previously unheralded Chapeltown duo behind the influential Leeds-based studio and record label BASSIC.

Elsewhere on the compilation you’ll find Birmingham producer Demonik’s sought-after debut single “Layrinthe”, a hard-to-find cut from Bedford-based men of mystery Original Clique, two classic cuts from the vaults of influential Midlands label Network Records and a glassy-eyed slab of Bleep/deep house fusion from 100 Hz.

Join The Future: UK Bleep & Bass 1988-91 will be released on double vinyl and digital download. The 10-track vinyl version features an insert with extensive liner notes by Matt Anniss. It also comes with a code to download the 12-track digital download version. The compilation will be released by Cease & Desist on March 25th 2020.

    2. A2. Sheep Funk (4-4 Mix)

    4. B2. Sheep Funkiano (Robin Beats Remix)

Robin Ball is back on his own Memory Box label with another timeless new single that comes with two alternate versions and a special remix from Saytek.

Ball has been involved in the dance scene since the age of 14 when he first started his own parties. Since then he has emerged as a singular voice with a discography that takes in essential cuts all the way back to the mid-nineties, most often on Groovepressure. A fine recent run of tunes under his own name have helped establish this label (and party) as a vital modern outlet with the likes of Nina Kraviz, B.Traits, The Black Madonna and Ben Sims all having supported.

Up first here is a remix from Saytek. After tearing up two Memory Box parties with his innovative, improvised live set, the UK talent lands on the label ahead of a third live set, this time at Corsica Studios on April 4th. He is, of course, a hardware master who speaks through his machines and has done so for many years to great acclaim. Amongst his many industry supporters, he has become a firm favourite of the legendary Carl Cox, who has released music from him and been extremely vocal in his praise, calling him “One of the UK’s freshest & most exciting acts”. Saytek has also released on labels like Superfreq and KMS Records and is in fine form once again here. His offering is a pumping peak time techno track with vast kick drums, icy hi-hats and the sort of live and lithe synths that define this artist's sound. The whole track sweeps you off your feet, taking you on a true techno trip and showing why DJs like Derrick May, Sasha, Maceo Plex and Dubfire find his music so essential.

Then comes a 4/4 mix of Ball's 'Sheep Funk', which is a jittery groove with smeared synth landscapes in the background bringing the soul. The fantastically forward facing original is a high speed slice of slick tech-funk. The electro styled percussion and rubbery bass all bring real energy and vitality to the club. Ball then offers a
remix of his own under his Robin Beats moniker, a pseudonym he uses for his abstract techno and breakbeat adventures, here he pairs things back and ups the sci-fi stylings with deft sound designs all colouring the restless and elastic techno synths and crisp hits.

This is another innovative offering from the always on point Memory Box

“Miss Honey” by Moi Rene was an underground New York anthem during the early 90’s. While the artist and the song never fully got the acclaim it deserved, it’s originality and authenticity was strong enough to sustain its reputation as a must have track for any DJ who wanted to inject some raw and real NYC underground vibes into their set.

Through a series of memorable releases, the production team known as SRVD has emerged as one of the worldwide DJ community’s most original and innovative talents. Consisting of renowned producer Radio Slave and Performance arsist Partrick Mason, SRVD has done a remix that retains the New York-in-the-90’s edge of the vocal, while adding a techno – laced rocket fueled beat and synth that have made the track an immediate favorite of headlining DJ’s worldwide. Entitled Moi Honey, the SRVD remix package consists of a vocal and instrumental version.

    1. A. This Is Not Purple
    2. B. Rhythms & Souls

R&S teams up with Spanish producer Architectural AKA Juan Rico for two tracks of hypnotic machine funk 'This Is Not Purple / Rhythms & Souls'

The Catalonian-based Asturian creator combines techno classicism with a rich strain of cinematic influences, recording as both Architectural and Reeko he has spent his career flitting between releases built for peak-time warehouse techno and introspective headphone psychouts.

For his R&S debut, Rico dips into science fiction as his core inspiration - A-side 'This Is Not Purple' snakes it's way around a snappy, stripped down but hi-tech groove that builds and builds. On the flip, 'Rhythms & Souls' amps a similarly tight drum track with a thumping DMX snare and pistoning kick drums, laced with seething pads and percolating percussion.

Drawing on the idea of an alternative civilization, Rico describes: "another cosmos with a retrofuturist aesthetic where a fusion between techno and funk is heard." Neat parallels can be drawn with Cybotron's planetary funk or the acquatic adventures of Drexciya - however Rico manages to make the sound his own - infusing his own unique strand of minimalism and heady euphoria for an intoxicating peak time experience.

Mind Against are back on Afterlife with two emotive, dancefloor masterpieces. ‘Walking Away’, featuring the deeply-affecting vocals of Port St. Willow, centres around uplifting harmonic elements and a resonant drum pattern. It strikes that special balance of light and dark which makes Mind Against’s tracks uniquely cathartic. ‘Bloom’ is more a melancholy, downtempo interpretation of their vision. The percussion is restrained and sits deep below atmospheric pads and piano chords, eventually arriving at a gradual and subtle peak. Mind Against reach euphoric heights once again, though this time by a patient and reflective path.

His music is always unique and alluring, it continues to push the emotive genre's boundaries while maintaining his signature.

“Ashes In The Wind”, a beautiful and melancholy piece brims with sadness and longing. Not the obvious first choice of many for the lead track but, after a thousand plays around the world’s sunrises and sunsets an enduring and classic in the making.

“Menabelle” takes inspiration from last year's hit, “Lanarka”, using and twirling cut up vocals to soaring effect. The EP is closed out with the classy and stylish string and synth gem, “Secret”. Beautiful and patient this track sends the EP out into deep space.

    4. B2. Whiplash

It has been a LONG time since Bushwacka! released any music on his original label, Plank Records. Its apt that the label started 25 years ago, and now, for its 25th 12 inch release Bushwacka! has delivered a killer 4 track EP, pushing boundaries of time signatures and paying homage to his rave breakbeat days as well as turning up the heat with the electro cuts.

A1. All Night in Heaven actually started out as a rave house track, with the killer breakbeat drop in the middle, but Bushwacka! changed the arrangement specifically to play the track at the Return To Rage event at Heaven, where he first went raving every Thursday from 1988 to 1992. The track sounded so massive on the dance floor that he decided to keep the breakbeat vibe throughout the track and release it on his Plank Imprint.

A2. It’s The Five O is a piece of music that defies gravity. Its a fusion of percussive assault, tribal chanting frenzy, and a bassline from the depths of Hell… but the magic of the track is its 5/4 time signature. Incredibly challenging to mix in and out of, yet so unique in its rhythm that people bust shapes they didn’t know their bodies were capable of.

B1. Feng Shui is a piece of filthy Electro Breaks that pulls you inside out and upside down. Bushwacka! has his signature Plank sound all over this, with raw rhythms and deep melodies and twisted warped sounds.

B2. Whiplash was written three years ago in Bushwacka’s Ibiza Studio. Its a cross between Electro and 4/4 dance music, with a beat so powerful the floors feel like an earthquake has hit them. This is the most pure of the tracks in its direct line to the early 80s Electro sounds, yet sounds like it was made yesterday. It has been destroying the clubs in his sets since 2017 and now needs to be shared.

Plank Records has had a devoted cult following and second hand the tracks have been changing hands for big bucks, and many vinyl labels have been re releasing some of the cuts. It’s so exciting that the label is launching again for 2020, with a sound often imitated, yet never replicated.

    1. A. Blade Runner (Maceo Plex Renaissance Remix)
    2. B. Blade Runner

Two consecutive #1’s on the Beatport Top 100 has taken this special series of releases from strength to strength. Combining Techno’s new breed of heavyweights with the perfect classic track, is a formula Renaissance are getting right time after time. Following on from Solomun and Tale Of Us’s outstanding contributions, Renaissance turn their attention to the ever-evolving Maceo Plex for a remix of Remake’s iconic ‘Blade Runner’; a track featured prominently on the very first Renaissance compilation in 1994.

Eric Estornel aka Maceo Plex has become well known for his mind-bending Techno sets and releases under various guises such as Maetrik. 2011 saw the Ellum Audio boss, release his debut album under Maceo Plex on Crosstown Rebels, ‘Life Index’ was met with critical acclaim and propelled the North American to success. Leading to him starting his own label Ellum Audio with a distinct Techno sound, whilst releasing his own music it’s served as tool to champion those around him seeing releases from upcoming acts such as Agents Of Time and Shall Ocin.

Speaking about the ReMix Maceo Plex, explains his love for the Neo-Noir Science Fiction Film Blade Runner’s soundtrack and the inspirations behind the track:

“The original Vangelis, soundtrack for the movie Blade Runner is my all-time favourite cinema soundtrack and one of my favourite records from the early 90’s is the cover ‘Blade Runner’ by Remake.” – Maceo Plex

Throughout time artists, musicians and designers have all paid homage to the cult classic movie and its soundtrack which has inspired the minds of many. Now taking his opportunity through the ReMix collection, Maceo Plex has delivered a timeless edit for the Renaissance collection series. Injecting the signature Maceo Plex sound with pulsating bass lines and futuristic synth tones stabbing their way to the breakdown where we’re met with all too familiar piano melody; transforming the original cover into a prime-time atmospheric weapon.

“I wanted to make my own version to honour this special music and add a little something personal in this new version” – Maceo Plex

With the previous editions in the ReMix, both hitting #1 in the Overall Beatport Chart within a week of release, the Maceo Plex remix will be eagerly anticipated.

The vinyl release also contains Remake’s original version as the B side.

With the first release in this series occupying #1 status for 6 weeks last summer, Renaissance are back with the second instalment of their 25th Anniversary ‘The Remix Collection” project. For the follow-up to Solomun’s immense reworking of Age Of Love, Renaissance have bagged more Techno royalty in the shape of Italian duo Tale Of Us, to take on the huge task of remixing another iconic 90’s classic.

The track in question is the legendary ‘Café Del Mar’ by the 90’s trance project, Energy 52. Much alike the previous remix by Solomun, it seems Tale Of Us also have their work cut out for them, as this track has had no shortage of remixes over the years. However, the popularity of ‘Café Del Mar’ is not simply reflected through its remix roster. Named after the iconic bar at the heart of the Ibiza clubbing scene, it was the soundtrack to the rave-culture movie, ‘Human Traffic’ in 1999. In addition to this ‘Café Del Mar’ later went on to be voted #1 in MixMag’s 2001 “500 Best Tracks Ever” list.

With this second remix, Tale of Us take the classic elements that made Café Del Mar such a huge track in the 90’s, bringing them into the present-day with big licks of bass and a huge crescendo. Carrying forward the focus of the series, this remix refreshes the iconic track for a new generation of listeners. Undoubtedly, as with the original, it is sure to be the soundtrack of Ibiza this summer.

Lifted from Hubbard's lauded 1979 LP 'The Love Connection', this sublime piece of melodic, deep, Soul / Jazz will have ears and minds open with it's instantly recognisable opening string sequence. Used to devastating effect on Pepe Bradock's all-time 1999 deep-House classic 'Deep Burnt', those sweeping strings capture us and lead us into a epic journey with the wondrous vocal stylings of the legendary singer Al Jarreau. This is prime early morning music, pushing all the right buttons and spreading light wherever it is played, a beautiful beautiful record indeed. What is essentially an extended and rearranged version of Hubbard's 1967 original, the '79 version of 'Little Sunflower' boasts a sumptuous arrangement and production from the mighty Claus Ogerman (Ben E King, Mel Torme, Bill Evans, Antonio Carlos Jobim & more). The era of major label 'dance' subsidiaries and remixes certainly threw up tons of classics and unexpected favourites. A time when the A&R men in the big offices were looking for the next streetwise sound, the next club anthem. One such label was the former independent and then Atlantic-backed Big Beat, helmed by the clubbable Craig Kallman who had cut his teeth as a DJ and promo man in NYC's music underground. Utilising his skills, Kallman signed Tropical Moon's 1991 seminal deep house EP 'Love Is A Mystery', a collaborative effort by underrated house heavyweights Nelson 'Paradise' Roman and 'Blue' Jean Hughes (RIP). It's no surprise that this record became a cult must-have with DJ's, here was a sublime and mature record crafted by 2 giants of the deeper side of house music, working in unison to create something 'other'. 4 tracks deep with a wide range of style and oozing sheer class, the whole record still sounds incredible today. A must-have for anyone with a love for soulful and deep music, brought back into view for 2018. An extremely sought after and hard to obtain slab of wax right here. Forget those wack bootlegs that you may see online, this is the real deal.

Detroit bred / LA based producer Kenny Larkin has long been a force to be reckoned with, both in the studio and in the DJ booth. For over 2 decades this giant has supplied us with some of the deepest, most soul touching and verdant techno sounds the scene has ever presented. Larkin's music is always awash with human emotion, his machine tinged expressions hark back to the true sources of techno music where man always met machine and the soul was inherent. 'Serena X' always sounded like it had been beamed back to us, even in 1992 when she first appeared, bolstered by a classic remix from fellow Detroit techno auteur Carl Craig that saw C2 firmly innerzoning and adding in some trademark stellar chopped-up breaks to the mix. Both of these now classic and monumental tracks are included here, on this reissue, backed by the towering melodic workout that is 'Empirical Reality'. These tracks all stand tall today, a testament to the forward thinking style of Mr. Larkin. Remastered from his own source materials and with his full involvement, it's a pleasure to welcome 'Serena X' back into the ears and minds of today's listeners.

'Odyssey' obviously spoke to DJ's effortlessly as it's a track that continually shows up in the mixes and playlists of a whole host of different people, new and old, including - Derrick May, Masters At Work, Mike Huckaby, Doc Martin and more. It's a simple, yet devastating record, dubbed out Disco chopping Funk of the highest calibre! Built on a handful of carefully chosen (and well known!) samples and collaged in the most old-school way, it's a passionate hark back to the 70's and 80's mega-mix and edit techniques of yore with a healthy handful of swagger, dub and echo thrown in for good measure. 'Odyssey' still sounds amazing today, even after being out there for on the streets for over 20 years it still works, as appealing to the Disco crew as it is to the hardcore House heads. Originally released by the legendary Junior Boys Own crew on their highly coveted Jus Trax imprint this is some pure 1995 heat that will have heads rushing the booth asking for a track ID. Try it out. Also featured on this fine reissue is a 'lost' version, a previously unavailable mix / edit that flips the track into some pretty trippy territory, in fact, you may find that you might need x 2 copies of this monster so that you can blend them together in a truly old school manner, garage or block party style! Another dyed-in-the-wool house classic here, from all the way back in the golden mists of 1987 on the tiny, cult Danica label. Don't forget, Mint Condition's mission is to bring you the classics too, a nice, new copy to play out in the club so you can keep your original nice and fresh! We care about these things. That's why we're happy to present this monumental slab of Chicago house history from one of the absolute gods of this culture - Mr. Frankie Knuckles - this time operating under his Night Writers alias. We're not sure too much needs to be said about this one, it's all here really, that classic Knuckles deep touch, the musicality, the vibe... Ricky Dillard's vocals encapsulating that feeling when the music takes over, pure abandon. The pairing of these two talents results in what would eventually become a bona-fide house CLASSIC. No arguments. If you're not familiar you're in for a treat, if you already know then you're nodding your head and agreeing with everything you've just read. Simple really - YOU NEED THIS ONE!

"Emotions Unknown" is one of those rare specimens, an almost flawless record in every way, the type of nugget that gets people all hot under the collar, and rightfully so! The grooves contained within are simply dripping and oozing class... the deepest of the deep, top shelf stuff, ahead of the game! A record that still sounds contemporary, fresh... futuristic even now, 20+ years after it hit the streets.
Across it's 5 tracks we are treated to some of the most sublime, beautifully crafter deep House sounds that will ever grace your eardrums. Honestly. If, like us, your favourite hobby is digging for records and discovering old/new sounds then you'll understand what a big deal this record is. If you're one of the uninitiated you're in for a real treat... here's the perfect opportunity to own a record you'll keep coming back to for years to come, a timeless collection of cuts that will never tire - Sincerely!

MC002 has been remastered and reissued straight from Joshua's private DAT tapes and remastered by London's very own Curvepusher. 100% legit, licensed and released in conjunction with Joshua Michaels AKA 'Iz'. Dug, remastered, repackaged and brought to you by the caring folks at your new favourite reissue label - Mint Condition!

In LNTG own words of how their "No More War Rework" came around :

About 6 months ago, just before I set off on my 5 month tour of Europe I got a message from a good friend of mine asking me if I would edit a track that he loves.
I said of course, and asked him what track.
Turns out its a big favourite of mine also.
'Why Can't We Live Together' by Timmy Thomas is an amazing song with a strong message that is even more relevant today than it was back in 1972.
The message is clear, it's simple, it's beautiful.
I'm saddened by recent events around the world and I've always tried to spread love through music, because for me, music is love.
I hope you share the message and enjoy.
