Second release on Ivan Smagghe and The Ginger Prince’s Les Disques De La Mort imprint of left-bank exoticism and sonic mind melding comes courtesy of burgeoning protégé Manfredas. They said Les Disques De La Mort was about unknown geniuses and old flames… it is!
Ivan met Manfredas at Smala, his night in Vilnius, and the latter offered a USB stick. On it seemed Music tailored for Les Disques De La Mort: Extreme efficiency and a high bizarre factor. ‘Pink Industry’ is warped bass funk at its best. Ivan played it on his BBC6 mix, rarely the phone has rang at more un-due hours. ‘Uumellmahaye’ pushes the punk limit towards a synth cliff. The groove shatters the rock; we fell (or did we jump?) Expect a lot from Manfredas: He has already remixed Jaako Einlevi, Margot and C.A.R version has already been picked up by Rebolledo for his Kompakt mixed CD. It will be soon a joint 12" between Kill the DJ and LDDLM and it is A MONSTER.
ZONGAMIN is regarded as a bit of a hero by the label, so you can imagine the joy when he delivered not one but two remixes that push our very flexible boundaries even further: ‘Remix Take 1’ is disco gone wrong (as it should be) and ‘Remix Take 2’ almost borders on the very contemporary analog fuzzy techno of L.I.E.S without losing sight of the mirror ball. A second EP of our wunderkid Manfredas complete with Richard Norris psych-out is already in the can, we are not soon letting this bird out of our hands!!!!!!!
