SALES NOTES

He's coaxed them from Kassem Mosse, Actress and Skudge in the past, and now he's done it with Matt Edwards, whose "Don't Stop No Sleep" has whipped up a frenzy among the UK's bass-heavy 4/4 contingent.

With its insistent but apathetic spoken word sample, the title cut has the kind of stupidly addictive hook that has driven so many UK club hits (think "Sicko Cell"), but it's also got the measured techno momentum that's in fashion these days. As is typical for Radio Slave, there's little window dressing, with only dulcet chord stabs to keep it afloat. "Don't Stop No Sleep" could have come at any point in his career, and like his best work, it builds so expertly that even a single hi-hat can feel explosive. (Like that one near the end—you'll know the one.)

An acappella version and a brief "Nightmare Mix" offer idiosyncratic tools for creative DJs, while "War Dub" is a similarly-minded slab of bleepy techno. It's more of a peak-time number than its counterpart, but without the instantly recognizable sample it's just a solid Radio Slave track.
