Inspired by endless seasons in Ibiza, and the music emitting from the clubs like DC10 and Cocoon, Ray Mono is chiselling out a sound that’s uncomplicated and effective, and on the ‘Doin’ It Right’ EP, he delivers two sure fire winners.
The title track, ‘Doin’ It Right’, accommodates a low slung, swinging groove paired with a bouncing b- line, metallic chords, and a sweet vocal hook, it is simple house music done the right way! Similarly, ‘Breakage’ makes no bones about its influences; hypnotising beats and wandering bass cue up an accomplished and decedent floor filler, as dubby stabs and unobtrusive strings add to the breezy character of this stellar cut.
