With a deft ear for hooky melodies and funky rhythms, the Chicago bred DJ & producer, RISC, tees up a hefty EP for Eats Everything & Andres Campo’s EI8HT label. The ‘Sessions EP’ bands together four cuts of blistering and groovy techno.
Having already released a slew of singles for labels like Relief, Chicago Jaxx and GND Records, RISC finds himself in good company with the EI8HT roster, whose label launch has already delivered strong EPs from Avision and Drumcomplex.
’94 East’ drops frenzied percussion and a looping tone riff over a brisk and hammering rhythm, whilst ‘Detroit Blues’ entertains a more housier vibe, whilst still bringing those Motor City techno tropes to the party.
More pounding, basement sounds can be heard on ‘Omni Ledge’, as industrially charged sounds bounce off a spiralling bass line to maximum effect, and this killer EP closes with ‘Box Park’, the kind of techno slammer that hits all the sweet spots!
