Simon Shaw (Sense Traxx) teams up with META label regular The Checkup for a killer EP of raw house cuts for Ben Rau’s industrious label.
Cutting his teeth working for Defected Records and Kerri Chandler’s Madhouse & MadTech labels, as well as birthing his own Sense Traxx imprint, Simon Shaw has all the chops and credentials to deliver hot house tracks, whilst The Checkup, founder of Heat Up Music, and producer for, amongst others, Madhouse, Large Music and Moody Recordings, has become a trusted purveyor of fine 4/4 sounds, so their collaborative pairing is a welcome sound!
Such a perfect fit for the META label, ‘Feel It’ swings hard, the slammin’ beats softened only by soulful vocal refrains, and a blissful breakdown underpinned with scintillating pads and tweaky keys, proper dubbed house vibes! ‘Do You Baby’ is presented in two mixes; the main mix continues to get locked into a perfect groove, as a disco elements are filtered at both ends, setting up a great uplifting atmosphere, whilst the ‘Dub Mix’ does what it says on the tin, losing the vocal elements for a stripped back version.
