Joe McBride aka Synkro’s ambient bass-laden sound is in full force on this EP. Echoing the sounds of UK enigmas like Burial, cuts like Transient and opener Someone embed drum and bass beat patterns in to cloudy synth lines and murky bass pulsations. The more heavily instrumented sound of Contact shows a different side to McBride’s repertoire as does the deconstructive stillness of closer Falling. Synkro is still a rising talent and by no means a producer we should have figured out yet, this EP makes it clear things will stay that way for the foreseeable future.
