Scottish duo t e s t p r e s s debut on Patrick Topping’s Trick with ‘SMML EP’ this August.
Having started 2020 by locking in a year long residency at the world famous Sub Club in Glasgow, the pair have since dropped numerous singles that have picked up support from the likes of Denis Sulta, Skream, Kettama, Mark Blair, Big Miz and more, not to mention BBC Radio 1’s Danny Howard, Annie Mac and Nick Grimshaw. They now join Trick following appearances from Spencer Parker, Loods, Elliot Adamson, Ewan McVicar, not to mention Patrick Topping himself.
Precision kicks, pitter-patter effects and an escalating melody are joined by a spoken word sample in the bouncy ‘SMML’, before moving into ‘turboshandy’ with its springy bassline, lively synth stabs and heady pitched up vox. Tying things together, ‘heavy bad yin’ is a rumbling cut that powers onwards courtesy of robust drums, swinging hats and a squelchy acid lead.
