Tee Mango’s Tribute project was inspired by the much referenced
Theo Parrish quote: Love of the music should be the driving force of any producer, performer or DJ. Everything else stems from that core, that love. With that love, sampling can become a tribute; An expansion on ideas long forgotten, reconstruction, collage.
The project will take the form of audio and visual collage, with x5 vinyl releases and a selection of t-shirts coming via Mango’s Millionhands clothing brand.
Leave You is the lead track here and sounds like the lovelorn offspring of St Germain’s timeless Rose Rouge & a long lost Pepe Braddock jam.
All brushed jazz drum samples and wistful vocal refrains.
Make Me Wait experiments further with short looped jazz drums and chord stabs, overlayed with a vocal that sounds as fresh as the day it was recorded by Paradise Garage’s prodigal son.
Chances are you’ll be hearing these two tracks this summer.
