It was with his excellent debut Nancy’s Pantry on R&S in 2013 that Londoner Ed Russell aka Tessela really started to shape as an exciting production talent, daring some out-of-the-box thinking with fruitful results. He follows up his two efforts for the prolific label with the Bottom Out EP, which does exactly that. His second release in 2015 after a split EP with Warp’s Nozinja for Bleep, the material on Bottom Out stems from a frenetic session in the days after hearing Ben UFO's DJ set for Fabric’s 15th Birthday party. Russell further deconstructs his bass-laden techno sound. The A-side strips back its element in a unheard ways, twisted yet again in the remix by Livity Sound co-head Kowton. The B-side keeps on surprising with unstructured space organ chords and processed vocal messages, and only the distant shadow of a beat in the background.
