M A N I K, the album showcases some blistering new talent from some hot new producers.
First up on the sampler are Wildkats, an East London collective compromising of Edinburgh DJ’s Scott Dickie and Stuart Sandeman alongside American import Corey Baker. ‘Perpetrating’ is a driving firestorm monster of a track. Setting the floor a blaze with its clever use of the NWA vocal lick and omnipresent engrossing pads and incessant infectious percussion. A great opener!
A2 come courtesy of Lee M Kelsall, DJ and promoter of Leeds house night Filth. Matt Fear has superbly remixed the original ‘On The Road’ to maximum effect. Matt pitches the tempo down from the original and creates a heady, boogie infused sonic treat. Full of groove and soul Matt teases the best out the original and creates something special with his mix. Already a massive favourite with the Hot Creations crew, this is highly in demand.
On the flip and we are back to the main room with a dark and dangerous ‘Blame’ by Jakkin Rabbit AKA Danny Kane and Marc Spence. A full on, no stop funk machine full of dark stabs and great fills, fantastic dance floor action to the tenth degree. A sure fire dance floor killer, expect to hear this everywhere.
Finally AA2 features the fantastic ‘After Midnight In Your Bed’ by Barcelona based Miguel Puente & Mejia. A full vocal led mid tempo, moody groove-meister of a tune featuring Mejia’s great vocals. Complete with bubbling acid line and shuffling break beat… killer!
The sampler serves as a mere taster of the sonic treats available on the full digital album compromising of 17 tracks and released shortly after the vinyl sampler.
