DESCRIPTION

Wild Rumpus is Bitches Brew head honcho Colleen “Cosmo” Murphy (Cosmodelica / Classic Album Sundays) and former Captain Beefheart axeman and Jeff Buckley collaborator Gary Lucas. With Wild Rumpus they bring together seemingly contradictory sounds such as disco, rock, surf music, blues, dub and country while enlisting some extraordinary talent along the way. Previous collaborators and remixers include UK beatbox champion Beardyman, MC Brother Culture, Rub N Tug, Prins Thomas, Reverso 68 and Rob Mello. Their new single “Cloudhopping” (and the last before their album “Musical Blaze-Up” drops later this year) follows up their previous four singles "Musical Blaze-Up", "Purple Somersault", "Rock the Joint" and "Kazan". This latest effort is the most indulgent Wild Rumpus song yet and is somewhat of a cross between Ashra Temple and Giorgio Moroder clocking in at an epic 12 minutes. The remix is courtesy of Mudd and has “Balearic Classic” written all over it. The single also includes an instrumental version of “Tikkety-Boo” which is a preview to the vocal version with Lambchop’s Kurt Wagnerwhich will be featured on the album.

“Cloudhopping” is already getting props from David Mancuso from The Loft and the underground house brigade including Liv Spencer (House of House/Still Going), Eric Duncan (Still Going/Rub N Tug), Brennan Green (Chinatown), Soft Rocks, Citizen Kane, My Cousin Roy (The Wurst Music Co.) and many other “heads”. It will be available in March on Bitches Brew on 180 gram vinyl for the ultimate hi-fi experience.
